Memory card issue

I purchased a 64 gb class 10 write 3 card and was recognised by Sony Alpha. Not by my Mac 10.14 though. I tried to reformat the card but only managed to partition it in some way rather than format it as it displays a tiny fraction of what it once had. Has anyone got any info on how to roll back the changes on a formatted card to its original?
