70-200 GM quality issue, white ring

Recommended Posts

Maybe I got a fake sony 70-200gm

Video: left side flare

First, I saw this ring when I traveling with my A9 camera at 200mm. It's quite obvious if you look at the small size thumbnails on the left side. I asked online and someone said it's because of the camera built-in calibration.

After I did some tests, I am sure about that built-in calibration just mess up the image and create some wired lines or circles on the picture.

However, today I am doing another test on my white wall. Turn on and off calibration.

When I add more clarity and .... boom!!!!!! that ring is back!!!!!!!!!

Also, I recorded another about the vignetting.

It's getting worse when you zoom in to 200mm

Any ideas? It's a common issue or just me?

The 70-200 GM lens is known for noticeable (actually: worst in comparison) vignetting of -1.7 EV, according to comparative measurements at dxolabs:

Some noticeable vignetting of over –1EV occurs when using the maximum f/2.8 aperture at all focal lengths (particularly the longer focal lengths), but the issue is significantly improved after closing down a stop to f/4, and is all but eradicated from f/5.6 onwards.

Using a lens hood certainly doesn't help with this.
