I have been recently having a lot of issues when shooting timelapses with my Sony A7Rii. In today's test I was using a Neewer intervalometer and my camera is set to Manual: all settings are set to manual (aperture, focus, iso, shutter speed). I then let the intervalometer shoot pictures at a 5 second interval. The lighting in the room hasn't changed at all and given that the camera settings were all set manually I should have received a series of very similarly looking images. If I am not missing something then nothing should have caused any changes in exposure in the images, yet the result is that randomly some of the images were dramatically underexposed, even though the settings according to the exif data are identical. I've attached a screenshot of the exposure line of all images in the series. The blue line should have been a smooth and almost straight line given that the settings were identical and the lighting in the room hasn't changed. I've also attached a screenshot of a part of the series from Bridge, showing that some of the images are randomly underexposed. And here is a link to two sequential RAW files out of the series (the files are currently still uploading to Dropbox). They show identical exif settings yet one is strongly underexposed (the images before and after were normally exposed again). Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong with my camera or settings? Much appreciated, Jan

Hey everyone. I purchased the a6000 a while back and used it for a few. Before I returned it I noticed that some bars on the video feature were under exposed. There were about 3 to 4 bars. I decided to record the video and put it in my lap top just to make sure if it was the cameras screen or something, But as soon as I saw the footage on the computer the bars were in there as well. I returned the camera because I ended up buying the a6500 anyways. Since its a new camera and newer model i forgot about the issue. Later down the road of using the camera I noticed the exact same problem come up on this camera. It is very odd I have done some research and looked for similar situations as mine but so far nothing. Basically I get about 4 horizontal bars that go across the frame of my video that look underexposed. Please take a look at this frame I captured at an event. If you look at the screen shots carefully. You can see the bars are in the exact same position.

My problem with my A99: The A99 viewfinder while using manual camera settings, or shutter priority, shows a different brightness level than the resulting photo does. Way different. In other words, the picture looks fine in the viewfinder, and on the LED screen, but the photo I take may be way too light or too dark. This occurs when, for example, I might want to get the "milky white waterfall" effect by using a very slow shutter speed. It looks fine in the viewfinder, with no indication to "use such-and-such-f/stop", but the recorded photo may be washed-out overexposed. Or I will want to use my HVL-F43M flash to highlight a foreground object while increasing the shutter speed to darken the background somewhat. Again, no indication via the viewfinder or the viewing screen as to what the resulting image will look like, so often it is way too dark. Why? Thank you.
