  1. Hello friends! It's strange to compare camera and phone, but my friend and I decided to do this test. The camera module in the iPhone SE - IMX315 was very good! In some scenes, the pictures were very similar. https://youtu.be/LvchV2XJPyo Tell me what phone you are using and someone has already tried the new Sony XZ Premium with the IMX400 module?
  2. I've been having problems with the clarity/ quality of the pictures that my a6000 produces. The pictures that the camera takes doesn't appear to me to be of high quality, not very clear/ sharp. In fact the pictures often look worse than those taken by my Samsung galaxy S6. To test the camera I initialised it, resetting it back to its factory setting. I then used a tripod and the playmemories control function in the app so act as a remote shutter, to completely eliminate camera shake. I used the auto mode to take some test pics but the quality of the pictures did not impore. The pictures were saved automatically onto my phone in 'original size' via the playmemories app, where I uploaded them to flicker via the flicker app. Please can you take a look at this image and it stats and let me know, all things given, if the imagine should be of better quality for this camera. https://flic.kr/p/R1FbnQ Also I'm using the kit lense.
  3. I've been having some issues with the clarity of the pictures that my a6000 seems to produce. The pictures that I have taken on this camera just doesn't appear to be very clear. They appear slightly hazy and not particularly sharp, when compared to the pictures that I have taken on my Samsung galaxy S6. This morning I decided to initialise the camera and take some fresh pics. I used a tripod and the and the playmemories remote control function to control the shutter, to completely eliminate camera shake. I used the auto mode to shoot the picture. It was automatically saved on my phone via playmemories at 'original size'. I then uploaded it from my phone via the flicker app. Please take s look and tell me what you think about the image quality/ clarity https://flic.kr/p/R1FbnQ
  4. So I tested my two Konica ƒ14 standards. 50mm ƒ1.4 -- one of the worst hot spot issues I have seen. All the way open to ƒ4 before it went away. 57mm ƒ1.4 -- fantastic with no not spot at any aperture. If you are buying a standard I Konica the 50mm is overall a better lens in terms of sharpness. So if you are only shooting normal and no IR it would be my choice, though the bokeh of the 57mm is better. If your primary interest is IR then the 57mm is the obvious choice.
  5. Hello! A very beginner question : How do you generate a colorbars from the A72? We want to calibrate an external HDMI monitor in our studio. Thanks!
  6. New toy arrived this morning! I'll be doing some real world tests for my own satisfaction mainly over the next few days...but thought I'd start with a size comparison including the Canon 2.8 mkii on it's metabones adapter Let the (unscientific) testing begin! Jon www.jonroberts.co.uk
  7. Hello! I've received this camera this morning and I took it out for testing immediately, so I want to share here some of my experience and sample photos. In general, the camera felt solid in my hand, very similar to the feeling when I use A7ii, except the dials and some buttons (quite less convenient if you're A7ii/A7Rii users). EVF is very nice as advertised. I got this camera mainly for using some APS-C lenses that I like, including the Sigma Art 18-35mm, SEL 50mm f/1.8 OSS, and maybe Sigma Art 50-100mm when I can afford it, so I tested the camera with some native lenses and Canon mount lenses: SEL 50mm f/1.8 OSS, FE 28mm f/2, Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4, Canon EF 300mm f/4 L (non IS version). I have Viltrox II, Techart III, and Yongnuo adapters and surprisingly only the Yongnuo can work with the Sigma Art and 300L, even though it only can lock the focus with 300L some times. Viltrox and Techart can work with these lenses for few seconds then they stopped responding or it's very hard to focus. Therefore, I chose to manually focus the 300L to get some bird and cat shots as below. Take a look at my samples, most of them was taken directly from the camera and slightly adjusted for the brightness. Overall I like this camera, especially the silent shutter, focus speed and the ISO quality, but I do hope that the problem with the Canon adapters are just temporary, because they work well with my A7ii. Maybe it's the problem with the firmware and Sony can fix it later. 8. Sony A7s vs A6300 quality test in 1080p recording.
  9. Hey all, Came to the forums seeking some help. I bought my A7s used for a good deal a couple months ago and it's been great. I normally just used it in ideal lighting conditions but felt like testing out it's use in low light since that's one of it's strongest selling points. Unfortunately, the levels of noise I'm getting in the blacks and shadows is completely unusuable and totally different then others who have posted their noise tests online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guXnEVou6Lc for example). Here is some footage I just shot static on my porch. Not a particularly bright night at all mind you. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9eK_xmGZsW3Nnl4eU5mank2TDg&usp=sharing PP: Cine2 (S-Log was giving me even more noise) Color: Cinema Lens: Rokinon 35mm @ 2.0 24fps, 1/50 shutter. X AVCS codec C0001: ISO 3200 C0002: ISO: 40000 C0003: ISO 80000 C0004: ISO 160000 I'm wondering if I could possibly have a sensor issue on my hand and could use input. Thanks for your time.
