  1. Hello Folks, I'm hoping for some feedback on "Long Zoom" lenses from actual users. My head has been spinning with all the options available, Sony, Tamron, Sigma, Used, New, OS, non OS, etc. After tentatively deciding on either the Sigma 50-500mm or the Tamron 150-600mm, I discovered neither lens was offered for Pentax K mount, my current system. That wasn't exactly bad news. I enjoy my Pentax cameras, but have a strong preference for EVF and welcomed the chance to buy another Sony. I once had the a77 and don't recall why I sold it. I loved the camera and got great results. I guess I just wanted something new? Well, I've ordered an a77ii and it will arrive Wednesday, with the 18-135mm and 55-3oomm lenses. I'm looking forward to enjoying my new camera while I make a final decision on which long zoom to buy. We have a trip planned for late May through Teton and Yellowstone Parks, so that's my time frame to buy the new lens. I strongly value user opinions over professional reviews and spec sheets. Any advice or comments will be really appreciated! Thanks! Jack
  2. Hi, Has anyone tried out both versions of the Tamron 150-600mm A-mount lens on the A7Rii with the LA-E3 adapter? I have the old version of the lens and I would like to hear from anyone who has experience with both versions about whether there are any differences in autofocus speed or accuracy with the new G2 version of the lens when used in this particular way (adapted onto E-mount). I have read the reviews of the lens and the press releases so I understand the differences in the new version, but would really like to hear from someone who has personal hands-on experience with both versions. Thanks!
  3. With Sony A99 and the fantastic Tamron 70-200mm f2.8
  4. Hi guys, I wanna hear some feedback from the person who has the a7ii and use the tamron 150-600 (through the la-ea3 adapter) that the tracking ability is good enough to take the photo of the bird in flight and also the taking-off aircraft? I have 2 choices right now between this tammy and the sony 70-400 g2 I had a chance to try the 70-400 and it was brilliant when pair with my camera (a7ii) through la-ea3 but I can't find tammy a mount lens to try out in my country so I wanna hear some opnion from the real world users before considering to order the 150-600 (since tammy is 50% cheaper than the 70-400) Thanks everyone in advance
  5. Hi! I had the chance to test the new Commlite Nikon F to Sony E adapter on the Sony A7 Mark II with FW 2.0 with 3 Tamron and 1 Nikkor Lens. I wrote a blogpost about my (sadly not that good) findings. Take a look if you like! Commlite Nikon F to Sony E Adapter @ tommayphotography.com Cheers Tom
  6. I have read reports that with center focus point selected, this lens does AF with phase detect on A6000. Is it true? Because if it is, I won't sell it at a very low price and use it with the A6300 which I plan to buy!
  7. Took this last summer in SOHO, New York. Sony A7III Tamron 28-75mm 75mm f2.8 1/320 ISO 200 https://www.instagram.com/elgopro/
  8. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I have been using the Sony mirrorless system for a while now. I started off with an NEX-6 and now recently I just picked up an a7s used, which i got for a good deal. I mainly shoot Landscapes, Astro and do a lot of Time-Lapse work too. I am looking for an UWA zoom, the Sony native lenses are out of my league. Right now i'm debating between with the Tokina 16-28mm F2.8 and the Tamron 15-30mm F2.8. I'm not considering any of the Canon lenses because of their bad Coma Performance. I read somewhere that the Tamron is not as sharp on the a7r or the a7r II (which I would eventually pick up). If anyone is using any of these lenses along with Sigma MC-11 and could shed some light on them it would be great. My Current Gear list NEX-6 a7s Sony E PZ 16-50mm F3.5 - F5.6 Sony FE 70-200 F4 Rokinon 12mm F2
  9. Hello there, sony shooters! It is my first post here. I searched a lot but I couldn't find any solution related to my problem. So it goes like this: I have Sony A7s II and I had attached 50mm f/1.8 lens on it. When I was switching my camera to continuous autofocus, it was starting to hunt for a focus, never mind it was night or day, it was at 1.8 or 9, it was hunting for a focus hopelessly. Then I bought Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and again, it started hunting for a focus. This happens if camera is standby and I press shutter button for focus during photo. But if I switch it on video mode, everything is perfect and everything works very well. Even when I shoot video AF is great, Eye-AF also works perfectly, but when I want to shoot, say, my running dog, every image is out of focus. Did any of you have such an issue? What's a problem? I tried every focus mode but problem continues. Edited: I almost missed that it Tamron and Sony 50mm lens worked perfectly on a73. Thanks for your attention and sorry, if such post existed before. If so, please link me Happy shooting!
  10. so i want to upgrade my 70-200 zoom lens with these three options: tamron 70-200 f2.8 sony e mount sigma 70-200 f2.8 sony e mount sony 70-200 f4 (f2.8 is out due to price) would be using it primarily for surfing photography & video, secondarily for landscapes etc. what would you guys recommend at this point, native lens & smaller aperture or offbrand & 2.8?
  11. Hey Guys ! I want to show you my first short film I ever shot, it was completely shot on the Sony a6000. Lenses I used were the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8, Helios 44-2 and the cheapo cctv 35mm 1.7 Please watch it here and let me know what you think I'm happy about every feedback I get ! If you enjoyed it, please like it on youtube, its for the sony professional competition Thanks !!
  12. A friend borrowed me his Nikon Mount Tamron 15-30 ultra wide lens, ive tried it for some shots on my A7II:
  13. Here are my first Testshots with the Tamron 150-600, shot with a monopod today :-) About the lens: I used it with a cheap chinese adapter for Nikon Mount with aperture ring, all metal construction which holds the lens very good, there is maybe 5 mm play but not an issue, the lens is so big and heavy that you will hold the lens all the time anyway. Shooting with this big and heavy lens definitely needs a monopod or tripod and i also recommend to take a bag with you that this lens fits in with the camera on. Using it manual worked very good, the focus ring is precise and with the magnifier and focus peaking you can be shure to have sharp results. The 5 axis IBIS worked great with this huge lense attached. Best sharpness is from 150-400mm but also 400-600 is very usefull, just needs some tweaks in LR, contrast, blacklevel. It was a real joy using this lens, if you have never used this kind of lens with such a huge range, i can really recommend trying it out
