  1. Hi! Just bought a5000 ystday. I was reading some stuff about camera and its options for long exposure photos and I came across this: https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/238308-dont-buy-the-sony-a50005100-for-astrophotography/?page=2 Last post on page 2, as I understand, says he is using BULB mode via playmemories app. I don't have this option I'm using playmemories app version 5.6.1 and on camera itself version 1.10 (I think they are both latest versions - correct me if I'm wrong). So when I go to M (manual), there should be BULB mode, but via app there is not? Anyway, I would like to hear what option can I use as remote shutter for taking long BULB pics (2 or more mins). Thanks for your help!
  2. Hi, very much a newbie to photography, but I am keen to try my hand at some long exposure shots with my A6000 and have bought some ND filters to do some experiments. Operating the camera manually requires you to keep your finger on the shutter button for the entire length of the (bulb mode) shot - which seems a recipe for camera shake. I have a Google Pixel (android) phone and from all my attempts so far (using imaging edge on the phone and "smart remote embedded" on the camera) it is impossible to select bulb mode - the app always sets the exposure to 30 seconds. What I am ideally hoping for is the ability to press a (virtual) shutter button once to start the exposure and press it again to end the exposure. I must admit I am surprised that this can't actually be done on the camera itself (i.e. press button to start and then press again to end exposure). Any help gratefully received.
  3. Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I have a Sony A9 and was trying to take a self-portrait with the camera and my iPad using the Imaging Edge app. All ok, apart from the shocking connection reliability and laggy/jerky live view, until I tried to touch focus. No luck. I started troubleshooting and found that because I have back button focus set up the Sony cameras can’t use touch focus on the app - what the heck? Never encountered that issue with any other brand, and I have used quite a few! Anyway, I re-map focus to the shutter button and voila’…no luck again! After a lot of bumbling around the net I discover that the Sony A9 is not compatible with touch AF from the app! Is that for real? A professional camera like that does not allow the most basic function for remote shooting? I’m baffled. The question is: has anybody managed to solve the problem? Any workaround to be able to do that? I’d be very grateful for an answer either way. Thanks in advance! Flavio
