  1. Evening fireworks in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day in Moscow. Heavy cloud cover made it frighteningly beautiful. FX30 / 1/50s / PZ 18-105@45mm / F4 / ISO800
  2. Hi, I've been shooting some slow motion (120 fps) on my a7rii and have been getting a lot of noise in my blacks showing up.. not sure how to best avoid this. I've been shooting slog2 on crop 35 with a zeis 55mm and setting auto iso with max iso to 3200-6400 depending on whether it's dark out or not. The noise is even present during the daytime (you can see in the dark areas). For 24 fps 4K, there is almost no noise under these same settings (daytime or night time)... Here's a sample video that I shot under these settings: And here's a guy I saw that shot 120 fps in full frame: I've read that you get better image quality in crop mode (especially at night) so I've been using that paired with the 720 quality. I've seen samples that the picture quality can nearly match the a7s in crop up to 25,600 iso (at least for HD) and was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to best eliminate the noise. Should I instead use FF and max my iso a little higher?

  5. Hello everybody, since a couple of years our little group of friends celebrates the first of May in a nice yearly get-together, a little like a reunion thing. Every year we have great food and, during the whole night, lovely fires ... This year was the first time for my Sony camera ... and, oh boy, i was not disappointed .... but see for yourself: Maifest 2016 / 1 Maifest 2016 / 2 Cheers, konzty
  6. Here are a few shots I got this fall in the Cascade mountains near my house. One of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade from my NEX-7 was high ISO performance and the A7rII has met those expectaions. All shot with Samyang 14mm 2.8 Mt. Shuksan, Milky Way + Aurora Mt. Baker by moonlight Moon over Glacier Pk. Sunrise on Mt. Baker

Beyond the clouds you can vaguely see the milky way where the constellation Cygnus was soaring upwards. A7R2 + Laowa 15mm F2, ISO640, 30s, 2-panel panorama. 500px.com/haitongyu
  12. Hello, since I'm a new member of this community and generally relatively new to photography, I would like to apologise in advance for any mistake.. To the topic now, I'm very keen on street photography. I love capturing buildings and in general i love landscape photography. I want to upgrade my lens so I really don't know which lens should i buy in order to shoot sharp and easily buildings/architecture, landscapes, sky and stars and of course night photos. I really don't know if it would be better to purchase Samyang 12mm f2.0 or something similar.

my second image doing night shots with a mirrorless. The feature i found to be really nice with these i think the a6300 has this feature also is to set a custom button to (bright monitoring) and when you are under the night sky and in manual mode and hit the custom button you can basically see in the dark which is fantastic for obtaining focus.

  17. Not HDR, but a composite. The sky is from an image taken 25 minutes later (without moving the camera between images). I am planning on returning to shoot with the A7r2, to see if it can be done in a single shot. Steve Snyder Aromas, CA
  18. Hey everyone, Nothing spectacular, just getting used to the RX100 IV and testing the slo motion capabilities. I have found that 240fps is about as high as I would go to keep the quality as high as I would need it, especially if I'm going to use this as a broadcast b-roll or b-camera. Mostly it'll be used for the family, so the quality is pretty rock solid. Everything was shot at 240fps in PP7 (S-Log2) 1600iso. I graded everything in PPRo CC with James Miller's LUTs. I was pretty surprised at how good his LUTs are at pretty much wiping out the noticeable noise that you get with the 1600 base ISO. I've actually shot more footage at 3200 ISO and from a production standpoint I'd be confident in shooting that hight and getting completely usable footage. Anyway... first post here... be kind https://youtu.be/lMu7F6jbiTg I obviously can't figure out how to embed a video... www.ajleitch.com
  19. Fireflies illuminating a mountain path in Iriomote-jima, Yaeyama-gun, tropical Japan. Technically not perfect, but the content more than makes up for it I think. The mountain path was pitch black (about from our insect friends) and we were not allowed to use any lights as it would disturb the fireflies. I set up the A7r as best as I could on the tripod and used F1.4 with a high ISO and manual focus. I didn't think I'd capture such a result...and it's amazing that one firefly seemed to be following the highway code and driving on the left hand lane haha! Nature is truly magical at times! Cheers, Sam www.samspicerphotography.com
  20. Last evening in Bodoe, Norway, with my A7r and the 1635 f4.
  21. Some pictures I took tonight. I used my A7S with my Samyang 12mm. Came out pretty good I think. 20 sec ISO 1600 f2
  22. The pictures of Nantong city (China), taken at night. The camera used was Sony A7 + FE 55mm 1.8 CZ lens. Nantong is a small city in China (relatively small speaking of cities in China) and it's really beautiful at night. Hope you'll like some of the pictures.
