  4. Good morning everyone! Just wondering your initial thoughts in regards of the use of the new a99ii for landscape photography... As the tech - specs looks similar to the a7rii in terms of dynamic range & resolution + some others, may you consider to move to this new camera, even knowing the A-mount aspect? Cheers Jefferson

  6. Falling stars during peak hours of Perseid Meteor Shower 2016, shot over lake Duolun, Inner Mongolia, China. Around 90 meteoroids, and also the reflections of the brighter ones, were recorded during the 3-hour period shooting, and were stacked into a single image according to their relative position to the starry background. Sony a7s (astro-converted) and Nikon 14-24mm F2.8.
  7. I just recently bought a Sony Zeiss 35mm f1.4. Yes it big and heavy but I got work to pay for me buying a used one. Every time I power on the camera (A7ii), it sounds like a motor expanding and then relaxing the aperture. Is this normal? Other than that, it works just fine and pics a crisp as expected. The sound/motor does not persist during operation. ALSO: Because I bought that lens on a whim I am wanting to know its capabilities in general. I just came over to Sony mirrorless and got the A7ii used which came with the Zeiss 35mm 2.8. Love the combo because its so small. Here are the types of photos I want to take seriously: landscape, environmental portraits (mainly rock climbing and mountaineering - so a need to have good clarity on the subject and also show their surroundings, and traditional portraits. The reason I bought the 35mm f1.4 is that it is supposed to be "the best e-mount lens available". Wouldn't want to take the risk if it were my own money so took advantage of the offer. Now I am in a strange predicament. Because I'm always climbing, do I just stick with the 35 2.8 and get a portrait lens, or keep both? Is the image quality that much different? I guess my other option would be to trade the 35mm f1.4 for a great portrait lens. If I go that route, what should I choose?

  9. In August, I travelled for one day along the famous Ring of Kerry in Ireland. I wanted to capture some of the vibrance and beauty of the places along the ring. Using a rented Sony a7sii and extra gear, I explored the area for shots. Hope you enjoy the short travel film and can share around as you please. All the best, Nathanael
  10. The Sigma is one of my favourite legacy lenses. The copy I have is in PK mount, and I use it with a K&F adapter. These are a couple I took on a recent motorbike trip to Scotland, on which the Sigma ended up being the only lens I used. 12. Took a drive up to Mount Pilatus with the world's steepest cogwheel railway. Pilatus is located near Lucerne. The top is 2130 m / 7000 feet. Shot with FE Planar 50/1.4. In the lower left corner you can see the railway. The second photo gives you an impression of the crazy railroad track... Pilatus by Mathias, auf Flickr Vertical Limit by Mathias, auf Flickr
