  1. Hello everyone, About ten days ago I was at Samothraki, a beautifully wild and peacefull island in northern Greece. I am sharing a few of the pictures I took during my short stay there, I will probably upload more on my website soon. Camera: Sony A7II Lens: Minolta AF 50mm 1.4 (w/ LA-EA4) Location: Samothraki, Greece You can follow my page on Facebook: facebook.com/ilias.antoniou.grnd
  2. I am soon to be a proud owner of a new to me A7ii, but I currently have no autofocus fullframe lenses for it. I have more lenses than I really should that can be adapted, but I'm trying to keep costs down, so I just want to get one adapter, but I am having a hard time deciding between the LA-EA4 and either MC-11 or one of the cheaper adapters. I have newer Canon mount lenses, and Minolta A-mount lenses. Other than a 2 year old, I don't typically take action pictures. I take most pictures of landscapes or zoos/aquariums or again the 2 year old. I'm semi leaning towards the MC-11 or fotodiox or similar, but I really want usable autofocus. LA-EA4 (already have LA-EA2) Faster focus, more reliable focus? 100-300 APO 50 2.8 macro (I love this lens on my A6000) 50 1.7 (Aperture is stuck open, need to try to operate on it) 28-105 Tamron 28-85 Kit 70-210 F4 (not sure I have a very good copy) 80-200 supersoft lens MC-11 No hump! newer lenses, no losing 1/2-1/3 of a stop of light Tamron 70-300 VC Canon 100 2.8 Macro Tokina 35 2.8 Macro (may not be able to focus) Canon 28-135 USM Canon 50 1.4 USM Could buy 35 F2 Yongnuo for cheap fast 35
  3. Hello all, I've just purchased an a6500 with the LA-EA4 in an attempt to use all of my A-mount lenses but have better autofocus, image quality, etc. than my a77 (mk 1). I have tried it with the Minolta 50mm 1.7, Sony 16-50 2.8, and Tamron 70-300 USD. All lenses have the same issue: back-focus. I've tried each and every micro-adjust setting nothing seems to have a noticeable difference on the back-focus. The focus areas even show up green so the camera thinks it's focused correctly, but it's always something behind the subject that's in focus. I've been using spot AF-S but have tried all combinations of focus areas and modes to no avail. The camera has the older software version 1.05, I have not updated but it doesn't seem like the update provides any support for the adapter so I don't think that would help. The only other things I've tried are resetting and initializing the camera. Focus is phenomenal with native E lenses, and all the A lenses I've tested are perfect on my a77. Any ideas? Thanks!
  4. Hi, I've been looking into buying a new camera for a while, and am leaning strongly towards the Sony A7 II. I currently only have an old Nikon D80 with a couple of APS-C DX lenses at my disposal, so I don't have any current equipment to take into consideration. This is all for personal enjoyment only, and apart from stills (mainly street and travel photography) I am planning to get into making some videos (starting with a small budget slider and perhaps some adapted legacy lenses, equipment-wise). For stills I would prefer to have autofocus, but my budget does not allow me to buy native FE lenses that cover the wide angle and normal zoom (anything longer is a bonus) I also really want lenses faster than f/4. With this in mind I've been thinking about the current setup: - Sony A7II - LA-EA4 Adapter - Tamron SP AF 17-35 mm f/2.8-4 - Tamron or Konica-Minolta AF 28-75 mm f/2.8 - Minolta AF 70-210 mm f/4 "Beercan" I have read that the LA-EA4 adapter (seemingly by design, as it is mentioned in the manual as I understand) for some reason disables the AF assist light which might make autofocus unusable in low light (for example in a nightclub). I have seen one person mention in a forum that on the A7II the AF assist light DOES actually work together with the adapter, but that the light might be useless with the adapted lenses actually obscuring the AF assist light. I would like to hear from anybody who has direct experience with using the LA-EA4 together with the Sony A7II, and whether the AF assist light works or not? I'm also interested in any feedback on whether it is at all a good idea to rely primarily on A-mount lenses on the A7II. Thank you.
