  1. Hi! I am very new to photography, so I need a lot of answers and opinions Please! I recently purchased a Sony a6000. I only have the 16-55mm lens that it came with. I was told that I could purchase used manual lenses and an adapter for much less than a lens that would go along with the camera. I found a Vivitar lens (70-210mm 1:4.5 MC Macro focusing zoom 52mm) at a garage sale for $7 and I am wondering if it would fit my camera with an adapter and what adapter would I use if it is going to fit??
  2. Hello everyone, I have recently purchased the a6500 and coming from SLR canon I have some lenses that I would continue to use. For this reason I had purchased the commlite adapter, but unfortunately it is totally incompatible, because nothing works. So I would ask what for canon lens adapter on sony a6500? Excluding the metabones adapter which for me is over budget.
  3. I am using a rented a7R II and SAL70400 with the adapter from A to E. On the a7R II it works pretty well but does not support DMF focus mode. I can live with that but not very happily. Today I tried the lens + adapter on my a6000 and it tried to autofocus but really could not do it. I tried both full auto and limited auto and it simply hunted. Since I had never read about that I decided to tell all of you what I experienced. FYI only.
  4. I've been considering buying an a6300 as an upgrade for my older Canon 70D for a while now, since its video performance is becoming quite obsolete for my recent productions. I'm not willing to buy Sony substitutes for all my existing glass, which is the reason why I'm willing to buy a Metabones mkIV adapter as well. The thing is, all of the reviews and topics I've ever seen are always talking about its focusing abilities for stills - which, as I could see, is pretty fast and accurate with almost no haunting in most circumstances. I haven't seen, though, anyone talking about its video autofocus performance, which is what matters the most for me. In their limitations section, they say "Continuous AF and video AF are not supported. (Performance may be unsatisfactory.)". As far as I'm concerned, there's no big difference between stills and video autofocus since it's the same focusing system after all. Could someone give me some light about this? How does Metabones behave within video recording? Best regards, Guido.
  5. In my latest video i´m comparing the Canon 70-200 F4 L vs. the Sony 70-200 F4 G OSS find out in this video which one is the winner! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=2775
  6. I am considering purchasing the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 and 35 1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for use on my Sony A7RII. Any thoughts on purchasing Canon version and using Metabones adapter vs Sigma version with Sigma MC-11 adapter? I have used the Metabones/Canon combination with my Canon L lenses. Any one with experience using the Sigma/Sigma MC-11? I am thinking of selling my set of Canon 16-35L 1.2II, 24-70L 2.8II, 50L 1.2, and 85L 1.2II lenses. Thanks.
  7. In my latest blogpost i´m taking the Canon 85mm 1.8 for a testride again, this time with the Sigma MC11 Adapter on the mighty Sony A7rII. See why this is another great affordable Canon lens which you can use on your Sony which gives you great looking 4K Video and very sharp photos with very nice bokeh! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=2764
  8. The last couple of weeks or even months i have been shooting so much with the MC11 adapter. A lot of people asked me how good is the AF-C and Lock on AF. Well, to answer this i went to a medieval festival called "Ritterfest" in Linz, Austria and there i tested both lenses the Sigma 24mm 1.4 and the Canon 70-200 F4 L on my Sony A7II. Also made some additional tests. Grab some popcorn and beer and enjoy the video! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=2267
  9. Just recently noticed that the WO button on my IV T adapter is no longer providing any tactile feedback. In other words, where it was lifting and depressing before, it is no longer providing any of that resistance/push after you actuate the button. It just kind of flops about with no tension. Anyone have this happen to them? If so, what was the fix? Hoping to be able to fix this ASAP as I only shoot adapted EF mount stuff on my Sony rig. Any help would be super greatly appreciated.
  10. The last 3 days i have been visiting a Street Artist Festival in Linz, Austria the "Pflasterspektakel" A perfect event to test my trusty Canon 70-200 F4 L again using the MC11 Adapter. Take a look at lots of images with these great street artists! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=1945 ‪
  11. For the last weeks i have been shooting a lot with the new Sigma MC11 Adapter. Here are my latest results using the Sigma 24mm 1.4 ART + Sony A7II! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=1925
  12. In my latest blogpost i want to show you all of my results from yesterday using the Sony A7II + Canon 70-200 F4 L + Sigma MC11 Adapter with AF-C in a zoo. It´s more a show the results post, a full post with video is coming soon, in the meanwhile please enjoy these wonderful animals! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=1884 ‪#‎photography‬ ‪
  13. Lots of testing, but finally here is my full experience and rating for the Sigma MC11 Adapter :-) Get some chips and beer and take a look at my Video Review and blogpost where i have tested the Sigma 24mm 1.4, Canon 70-200 F4 L with 2x extender, Sigma 150-600 Sports, Tamron SP 90mm 2.8, Tamron SP 85mm 1.8! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=1769
  14. I am seriously looking at trading in my canon 60D and buying an a6300. A few questions i have though are: -Is there a battery grip that is coming out for the a6300? I know there is one by Vivitar for the a6000 but it does not work properly on the a6300. i want to be able to buy a dedicated grip for the a6300. -Does the fotodiox ef to e mount adapter work well? seeing a lot of good reviews on B and H but wanting some opinions from here. i have a good collection of canon lenses that i would love to use on the a6300. -is it worth getting the 16-50mm kit lens? what intrigues me is the power zoom function, and the good focal length range. i have a canon 16-35mm f2.8L mk I though, so is it worth the extra $ to get the kit lens? I do a lot of mixed photography and video work with the 16-35 being my main workhorse. -what are the ESSENTIAL accessories to get with the a6300? things that you absolutely NEED to get the best out of the camera. Thank you SO MUCH in advance guys! Masi
  15. Hey folks, Im looking into buying a PL to E mount adapter. Ive done some research and landed on these 2. 1. Wooden Camera PL Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Adapter. 2. Metabones PL to E-Mount Adapter with Internal Flocking. What are your thoughts? Any other adapter that I should consider? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers!
  16. Hey guys! No matter what I try I can't seem to change my aperture on my a7s ii. I am using the metabones adapter, however, it is up to date with the latest firmware. Anyone got any advice? Cheers.
  17. Ok, I'm going nuts to get to the bottom of this, so here we are. I have this weird shadow* that appears on both short sides of the frame (even if in this picture is more evident on the left side), with the exact same weird shape, and with several kinds of adapters but ONLY with long lenses (the Contax 100-300 @ 200 and up and the Leica 180). *I don't want to call it "vignette" because it doesn't look like one, it looks more like a piece of transparent foil was in the way; please keep in mind that to make it this visible I cranked contrast and clarity, otherwise it is a problem only with the sky in that portion of the frame Every other lens is fine, with the same adapters. I've tried flocking the inside of the adapters, using different kinds, I even cleaned the sensor in the off chance it was some sort of halo on it that was causing this, but I'm still getting the "shadow". Any idea of what the hell might it be? My (wild) guesses are: a - that the camera lens mount itself might be a tad too small, and it interacts in some way with the parallel light rays projected by the long legacy lenses (I know, it's far fetched but I'm at a loss for more reasonable explanations). b - that the sensor is reflecting back a ton of light, and this interacts in some way with the back of the adapter and the mount of the legacy lens
  18. on January 7th I wrote this mail to Metabones. I waited till today to give them a chance for comments. No answer jet! Do you noticed similar problems?? here are the images, that I sent to Metabones: the Zeiss Otus 1.4/85mm the Zeiss Makro Planar 2/100mm the Canon 17mm TS-E (tilt/shift) and this is the look of the mount on the adapter, full of brass (I did not send this image to Metabones) dierk
  19. This is my first post on this forum site. I am new to photography and have owned a couple canon dslr cameras (EOS 40D and 70D). Forgive me for my formatting. just got a used Sony A7R ii, which worked perfectly according to the previous owner who sold it on craigslist in pristine condition with all documentation purchased from B&H. I saw it autofocus and take pictures with his own native E-mount lens, which he was selling, albeit at a $1500 price point, and I was already a little hard pressed for cash. I did not have a lens, so I went ahead and purchased the Sigma 35mm f1.4 ART lens with the canon EF mount. I needed some kind of adapter, so I also bought the Fotodiox Pro Lens Adapter from Amazon. I read on this site: http://briansmith.com/sony-a7rii-canon-ef-smart-adapter-tests/ that the Fotodiox adapter should perform alright with the Sigma lens. Once I received everything (today, May 26th), I mounted it all on and took my first picture. Autofocus was... nonexistent. Second shot in better light proved more promising with pretty snappy autofocus. Then I tried to take another photo and when I pushed the shutter down, the screen turned true black and then the "artificial black" for about 5 seconds. When it returned to normal, there was an audible "clicking" or "readjusting" of the whole system. I took the lens and adapter off, put on the lens cap, and I was firing away normally, so it leads me to believe that the lens or adapter is causing some kind of lag. This happens in both manual and autofocus modes. It seems to happen randomly, but it happens more than 75% the times I have tried to take photos. It also happened a couple times when I pressed the shutter half-way. I also thought it could be my SD Card. I am using an old SDHC I SanDisk Ultra 30 mb/s 8gb card. I have a 64gb Lexar 1000x 64gb U3 card coming in a couple days from Amazon.
  20. http://www.viltrox.com/en/index.php?m=index&a=show&cid=133&id=101 I have searching for mark II but found this. Any info about advantages over mark II ? Thanks.
  21. I've been using my Sony A7R2 + Metabones IV with Sigma 35A and 50A as well as the Canon 16-35L for 2 months now. It's been working great, until last wedding the camera would not let me autofocus. I checked the switch -it was correctly set to AF, and the Focus Mode was greyed out in the Function Menu. I checked online and there was a quick fix to unmount the lens, hold the button on the metabones adapter, and reattach the lens and it would enable autofocus again. I had to do this about 4-5 times for the rest of the day. Anyone have this problem before and/or a solution to this? Is it firmware issues? I haven't updated it since I bought it from Amazon. Thanks.
  22. Has anyone using the Sony LA-EA4 adapter experienced it losing connection with the camera body. I tried it on several bodies and lens combinations recently. The f/stop and AF feature works only after slightly moving the camera or lens . I cleaned the contacts on both sides of the adapter. It has worked fine for over 2 years
  23. Few days ago, I got Macro adapter(s) for E-mount Full Frame; 10mm + 16mm. Easy to mount; tried 16mm adapter today, with some tech stuff, phone macro, SD card macro, it's really doing what described; as autofocusing is enabled by electronics being connected thru adapter; at the first look, it's working nicely. Will try to test more, outside, taking images in forest, nature. Must say that I had already 49mm filter magnifier. Did not use it a lot, as it's image results are not perfect, still for some basic needs (just magnifying and tolerating images being distorted), it works as well. For smartphones, there are lots of those "adapters", Wide, Telephoto and Macro, most of them with very bad vignetting, many with optics far from being good, but still working. With the Macro adapters 10mm + 16mm, must say that Sony autofocusing looks (sometimes) a bit "confused" for few milliseconds, then it "makes" proper distance decisions. Images, finally, look good.
  24. Hello, Does anyone know if there is a hot shoe adapter from Sony A7r to a standart flash without autofocus and TTL? I want to use my old Pentax A160 flash ( www.pentaxforums.com/accessoryreviews/pentax-af-160.html ) with my Sony A7r and to use it externally with a cable, but i don't find anywhere such an adapter. Thank you!
  25. From the album: Rokkor 50 1.4 on Sony a6000

Granny was rocking my newborn daughter on the deck, and I snapped a photo with my a6000 and Minolta Rokkor 50mm 1.4.
