  1. Beach day shoot using the Sony A7iii and Sony 85mm 1.4 G Master. Filmed a full BTS for this shoot as well. Check it out here - you can check out my full gallery on my Instagram too - Instagram.com/josh.edstedt.photography And if you’re interested in my colors, my presets are available here https://www.edstedtmedia.com/Presets/
  2. Hi there, I'm new here! I've seen the A7Rii vs A7Riii post and I wanted to know, should I wait for the A7iii? Will it be available soon? I'm transition from Crop Canon to Full Frame Sony, so the change would be great anyways, but I would be really pissed if I dropped 2k in a camera just so the newer version shows off right away. I've chosen the A7ii as my go to camera because of my budget and needs. I couldn't find any rumors on the A7iii so that kind of keeps me guessing when it will be in the market! Thanks for help!
  3. Was looking to get the A7ii then noticed the price drop and talk of A7iii on the horizon. Smart to wait?

    Creepy

It was a casual Sunday morning after breakfast, asked my daughter to pose like a ghost which she did good and turned out quite creepy after some edits.

  6. Has anyone else updated their iPad to the newest public beta of iPadOS and is having trouble importing photos in the Photo app or viewing photos in the files app. I shoot with an a7iii and connect my SD card using the Apple USB-C to SD card adapter.
  7. Hi I have been trying to get Face auto-focus to work on a7III in 4k internally I have tried everything possible to make face detection work in 4k but it just doesn’t work I turned off proxy and set it to 4k 24 fps with 100mb not optical zoom, always connected on mobile page is off and yet it always turns off and if I try switching it on again it doesn’t allow me and I tried it on airplane mode it shows me that it doesn’t work in 4k as the image shows in the attachements however I have seen multiple persons online with it working flawlessly anyone knows an answer to that? thank you
  8. Took this last summer in SOHO, New York. Sony A7III Tamron 28-75mm 75mm f2.8 1/320 ISO 200 https://www.instagram.com/elgopro/
  9. Ok here goes, My kit isn’t great although I’m not a professional either. Camera - A7 Lens - 55mm prime and 24-105mm G also the paper weight 28-70mm that ships with A7 bundle. The plan is to pick up a A7iii and a 100-400mm and add it to my pack. - I hate changing lens’s I’m a dust magnet. Not interested in video overly. Drone is pretty good with that I guess. Im heading away to the far reaches of North Western Australia and think that my current setup will be too short and not really keen on getting up close and personal. Questions I have are. 1. What should I buy first A7iii or 100-400mm 2. Should I ditch the A7 or leave it as redundancy/spare with the 55mm mounted semi permanently as it gives a great pic. 3. Is my lens 24-105mm a waste on the older A7 4. Is the A7iii my answer? 5. What are the cons with what I have and will there be a noticeable difference with the A7iii? Look forward to your help
  10. Hi all I'm curious about your experience regarding bluetooth connectivity on the Sony A7 III. The reason why I'm asking is that when I lent a Fujifilm X-T3 it would always instantly connect to my phone and start to geotag my photos. I don't think the app was running in the foreground even. But with my A7 III I need to start the app, sometime force-quit it, turn on the camera and start the app again. The sequence is very important because if I open the app before I turn on my camera it won't work. This is very annoying because I like to geo-tag my photos all the time, but this is such a hassle that I don't. I would like it to work as fluent as fujis system. I've deleted and reinstalled the app I've removed the connection between my phone and Sony A7III and reconnected I've reset the connection on my camera Phone: iPhone Xs Max and iPhone 7 Camera: Sony A7III What is your experience? Should I get my camera serviced?
  11. I just got my new Sony A7 III and am trying to learn all I can about it. I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask what may be a dumb question: There are numerous icons displayed on the LCD and in the viewfinder, some ofo which I cannot figure out their meaninig. Is there anywhere that I can find a list of all of these possible icons? Thanks in advance.
  12. Still working how to move my Nikon workflow over to Sony. A gripe I'm having is the SD backup in camera. I have an UHS2 card in slot 1. UHS1 in slot 2. They write and clear the buffer at the exact same rate. I did a little test and filled the buffer (about 55 compressed raw shots) and it took around 36 seconds to dump to both cards. And I could see on screen both cards dumped at the same rate. Taking slot 2 card out, leaving just the uhs2 card. 60 shots cleared in 24 seconds. So....I just wasted money on uhs 2 cards or am I missing something? I'd have thought the slot 2 dump would just happen in the back ground. Maybe grabbing from slot 1 so the buffer can just clear quickly.
  13. Have just got my new Sony A7 III. I'm having trouble with too much echo/reverb when using external microphone. When recording in an environment where there should be no echo at all (e.g in a forest with snow) it sounds that it was recorded inside an empty room. I use a Røde VideoMic Pro when recording. I also tried other mic's with the same result. When recording with the same mic's on my smartphone, the sound is normal. Is this normal to A7 III? Anyone else with similar experience? Example 1 https://youtu.be/Cj1RuHhTFbM (listen when closing car doors) Example 2 https://youtu.be/2UENFIC47xU Regards Sigmund M.
  14. Hello My Sony ILCE-7M3 wont start, probably something that very wrong? I use original Sony battery for the moment, have also tried with 3-party batteries but the same message appear... Message: Incompatible Battery, Use correct model. When I charge, the charge indicator led flashing fast(orange). I dont have any battery door, because it was removed when the vertical battery grip was used, just sold the grip and one of my objective..... and now it won't even start with original battery. I have loosen the metal cover under the camera to see possibility to moisture but nothing there.... have not dropped the camera.. The battery is charged to 7.2volt Please help me??
  15. Basically I need immediate access to video files on the computer as soon as they are shot on the camera. I have a video capture card but it is limited to 60 FPS and I haven't found one that goes any higher. Furthermore, I'm believe that the a7iii can't output higher than 60fps via hdmi anyway. Anyone know a reasonable way to get videos from camera to computer for immediate accessibility without removing the SD Card or sending via wireless? Maybe a tethering utility that allows video transfer? I have Sony remote/edit/viewer bundle but that doesn't allow video transfer.
  16. Hello, I just turned in my camera to service. I was taking photos and some where coming out over exposed when correctly exposing. And over 2000 shutter I could see the curtain or shutter at the corners as shadows or black areas. At 5000 speed and over the photos where completely black sometimes So after handing to service they sent me a picture and said out of waranty because I may have caused it. Such as taking a photo while cleaning sensor. I haven't even put my figures in to that gap before. And never cleaned the sensor. Here is the photo. What may have caused it. I am shocked when I saw it. No one else have used my camera too. I will test my camera before reparing it to see if I still get the same result when taking a photo. This way I will be sure that if the service has caused it...
  17. What are the best wedding prime lens combination for A7iii, good color and dof
  18. Hi. I’m trying to find an affordable lens for my A7III that I can attach and walk around the neighborhood with. I live in a semi-rural area so I want something that will be good for landscape shots too. Id prefer not to carry around a large lens on my walks. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be very appreciative. Thanks
  19. Hi All. I do a lot of outdoor photography; landscape, nature, wildlife when I can find it. I recently switched from a Canon 80D to a Sony A7III. I'm torn between two lenses and was wondering if any of you could help. First Sigma has a 100-400mm f/5.6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF that can be coupled with the Sigma MC-11 mount converter Canon EF-E. This seems like a good way to go except everywhere I usually shop says they are on back order and havve no idea when they will get them in. I did find a refurbished version of this lens that I could buy but I'm hesitant to buy refurbished. There is also a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM with the same Sigma MC-11 adapter that I am considering. I guess I should say that I absolutely cannot affford the native Sony 100-400mm lens. Oh I wish I could. Do you folks have any recommendations? I'm not a pro, but In love photography and especially outdoor photography. Thanks very much for your time
  20. Hi Everyone, thanks in advance for your help. I have this amazing A7iii with eye af in photo mode but I’m missing something. Watching all the different videos showing all the amazing features that focus on eye af seem to show that there is eye af in video mode, but unless I’m in p, a, s, or m there isn’t a way to use eye af in video. The other question is do I have to continually have to hold whatever button is assigned (center) or is there a way to toggle eye af. Currently the only way to hold focus is using face detection unless I hold the center button or whatever the button is assigned to for eye af. Great abilities, but frustrated with this. I can’t see holding a button to focus on an eye while the camera is on a gimbal. Thanks again for all your help. Robert
  21. Hey guys! Hope everyone is staying safe. I thought I'd share this from a trip to India! Let me know your thoughts and enjoy! Sony A7III - INDIA
  22. Hi, wonder if anyone is familiar with this, A7Riii has 42mp sensor while A7iii is 24mp, what effect does pixel size have on low light video, besides the obvious max ISO limit, thank you
  23. Greetings all, I couldn't find an answer to these problems I have been having lately with the A7iii, so hopefully you guys can help! I am shooting real estate on an A7iii with a 16-35 Zeiss F4 and a Godox V860ii-s hot shoe flash in TTL mode. Here are my problems: For one, if I leave the camera in auto white balance and even on a tripod, the camera will produce two completely different images if I take two pictures. One shot will be properly balanced color and the other will be all orange/red. The other issue I have is with my exposure and the communication from the A7iii to the flash. My colleague shoots using a Nikon Z6 and Canon EOS-R. Both cameras have native 16-35 F4 lenses on them and both are using the same hot shoe light. What's frustrating me is, despite setting all 3 cameras to 1/30, F8 and ISO 640, his Nikon and EOS-R produce far better exposed shots than my A7iii. It's obviously not the lenses or our exposure settings, so I must have missed a hidden setting on the A7iii menu system or the communication between the A7iii and the Godox flash. Either way, I'm frustrated with having to either crank the ISO to 1,600-2,000 or waste time/money with figuring out the manual flash settings on the Godox for each room of the house. Is there any advice anyone can give me to help solve these issues?
