  1. I tried out my new a7II today with a new Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 lens outdoors on a snowy river scene. A few of the shots had the Sun in the frame, and on every one there was a conspicuous pattern of green dots near the sunburst. Doesn't look like normal lens flare, but rather a "matrix" of equally spaced dots -- strange! It ruins the shots and I can't remove it decently in Photoshop. I assume it's an issue with the camera and not the lens, but I don't really know. Any ideas on what's causing this ugly artifact would be appreciated! Picture attached. Steve
  2. Does anyone know if the A7II retains use of the full ev scale in the viewfinder when metering in manual mode? The A7II ev scale ranges from -5 to +5 but uses only -2 to +2 in manual mode. When a scene meters above or below that, -3 and +3 grays out and begins flashing. Thank you.
  3. Hello everybody, since a couple of years our little group of friends celebrates the first of May in a nice yearly get-together, a little like a reunion thing. Every year we have great food and, during the whole night, lovely fires ... This year was the first time for my Sony camera ... and, oh boy, i was not disappointed .... but see for yourself: Maifest 2016 / 1 Maifest 2016 / 2 Cheers, konzty

  5. Please give your opinion (based on experience or not)! I have an A7m2 and an A6000 along with Zeiss 55mm F1.8, Sony FE24240... and a bunch of good E-mount glass as well as lots of A-mount Sony & Minolta lenses. I can get a used Sony SAL 70-200mm F2.8 for about $1250. For the same price I can get a new SEL 70-200mm F4. I mainly shoot events and portraits and I already have Sony's LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 adaptors. Which would you get? Or perhaps something else? e.g. (Sigma 70-200mm F2.8—$1,100 new, $800 used) Thanks!
  6. Hi guys I wrote a little article in the Blog section of my website about my experience with the 16-35 Zeiss *Tessar lens so far. I also compared it with my other beloved landscape lens, the 14mm f2.8 Samyang. It's aimed at real world use, so not that much tech talk Please check it out at www.albertdros.com (click the blog section) Feedback is welcome!
  7. filmed with a simple montana tripod + samyang 14mm the first part is slog2 and second part filmed in the sony remote app grading done in davinci resolve, i can really recommend this, it handles slog2 very easy and very good
  8. some shots with this little wonder lense :-)
  9. Got my new Lense from a local Photostore, its an old Minolta 50 mm MC Macro Rokkor QF 3.5 used with a Xsource Adapter on my A7II. Amazing how sharp this old lense is and how good the Bokeh is. Its built like a tank and the focusring is like butter. You have to boost the contrast in LR but theres no sharpening needed. I got this baby for 70€ :-))

  11. My a7II allows me to select between Counter, Time Code and User Bits but the other functions in the TC/UB Settings menu are disabled. Any ideas why?
