  1. An interesting update! Impelled by GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), yesterday I visited the Sony Store on the lot of Sony Pictures Studios. See pics here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.735923973210728.1073741834.100003793952479&type=1&l=5be36c2bde I wanted to buy an A7Rii but they were out of stock. I asked a store employee about the arrival of the A6100 and he replied that he was not aware of this camera but would check online. He then went to sonyalpharumors.com (LOL) and exclaimed, "Yes! An A6100 is coming soon!" I then asked if they had any A99's for a reasonable price. He replied that they only had a demo that they could sell for $1,500, however he wouldn't recommend buying it because the A99m2 is coming soon! I asked if he was sure of that fact and he said, "A trusted Sony insider told him that the A99m2 is coming soon and that he (the insider) is excited because he's a photographer and is looking forward to using it!"
  2. It seems apparent that Sony's strategy is no longer to compete directly in the DSLR market with Canon and Nikon. Their release cycles and statements strongly indicate that Sony seeks to overtake them in overall interchangeable lens camera sales by growing the mirrorless market. In other words, Sony sees itself beating Canon and Nikon not by making a better DSLR (in a market in which the competition has decades of entrenched loyalty), but by developing the mirrorless category. Maybe Sony was taken a bit off guard by the success of the A7 cameras, but they've definitely jumped in with both feet now. I was a loyal A-mount user, waiting, and waiting for an update to my a99. It's still a great camera, but it's far from state-of-the-art now (my RX100M4 blows it away in video quality), and many of the lenses are in desperate need of a refresh. Even Sigma and Tamron (save for the cheapo cropped head-scratcher of a vacation lens they just released) seem to have abandoned the mount. The A7R2 was just too good to pass up, and the fact that I didn't have to sell all my A-mount lenses was a bonus (still using my Sigma fisheye and 500mm, and Zeiss 135 f/1.8). So, money not being an issue, why would an A-mount user not cross over to FE at this point? I can understand wanting to maximize an investment, and riding that gear into the sunset, but if you can afford to, why not switch. I want to try to understand the market. No judgement. To me, the preponderance of the evidence suggests that the A-mount will continue to take a back seat to FE, and is probably approaching the end of its life. Your thoughts?
  3. Hi guys, So I made a mistake, being new to photography, and purchased the Sigma 17-50 not knowing that it was an A mount lens for my a6000. I have been looking for a good replacement for my kit lens and with all the good reviews of this lens, pulled the trigger and got this. I realized the problem and now need your help to fix it. From what I have ready, the only option is the LA-EA4 which is 400 bucks and to be honest, out of my budget. Please let me know if there are any other options out there for me or should I just return it and get something different. If so, what are the top 3 lenses for the E mount cameras that I should be looking out for??? Thank you for your help in advance!!!
  4. I follow the SAR site and following your prompting on there Andrea I joined this forum; however it looks to me as if this is for E mount camera owners only? If that's the case there's little point me being here LOL (I'm an A200 and A580 owner). Howie
  5. Hello everyone, Background : I have a persistent problem with my Sony 55-200, since some weeks ago the auto-focus stopped working. AF works with my 18-55 mm and my 50 mm on this camera, the only lens having this problem is the 55-200. Problem : The AF doesn't work but the lens motor moves and it seems it is trying to focus with no success :/. It goes like that non-stop, even after 5 minutes impossible to focus. I use the lens on MF and it works perfectly, although, in some cases I'd really like to have the AF. You can find the video on this post. Do you have any thought about this problem? Could it be the motor built-in? Can I do something myself to repair it? I could bring the camera somewhere to repair but I am not willing to pay a lot as it is a cheap camera nowadays. Thanks in advance.
