  1. I am looking for real use experience / recommendation on the Sony A6300 and associated lens for taking what one could argue is one of the harder shots to take without going to high end pro cameras and lens that cost a few thousand dollar: indoor action shots in which you need a zoom to get close enough to the subject with less than ideal lighting (think dance, indoor sports, etc.) I am coming from an older Nikon D80 with a Nikor 18-135 (F3.5-5.6) lens and taking any indoor action shots with it at zoom was not even possible. As I am looking to update my camera, I am looking to see what I would need to improve the one area I never could do with my Nikon. Again, I understand, that one really likely needs a $3K camera and a $5K lens to do this well, and something less to likely get acceptable shots. Considering the high majority of my use does not push the camera to this limits, I like the other features, size and price of the A6300 which is why I am really liking this as my next camera, but I am concerned I will not get much improvement over my Nikon D60 / lens to get much better for these indoor action shots. The only Sony lens that I think would come close is the 70-200 lens with an F stop of 2.8 but that itself would cost $2500 just for that one lens alone, and I am not even sure that would significantly improve my ability. Does anyone have any real world experience with the A6300 with indoor action shots with zoom and any reports you can provide and / or other lens recommendations?
  2. Hi, I have bought a new lens the FE 70-300 g oss and the contacts have a little wear and i'm wondering if this is from it being used and returned or is this normal or could it be from factory calibration? I have already demanded a replacement (should arrive soon) but i would like to know if the next one has any kind of wear on the contacts if this is normal Many thanks. Akil
  3. I've put my Batis 85mm lens up on ebay, starting bid only $1, free USA shipping. The lens is great, no problems, lightly used, has one minor scuff on the barrel and a few barely-visible scratches on the hood, otherwise is optically perfect. http://www.ebay.com/itm/122003450948?ssPageName=STRK:MESCX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1554.l2649

  5. Hey there everyone, I'm currently in the market looking for a great macro lens. The new FE 50mm F2,8 Macro looks promising but seems to be veeery slow in terms of af. And I unfortunately haven't seen any test images, yet. I'm curious if anyone out there is already shooting a great (lens(+adapter)+body) combo for macros with their A7II. Cheers, zʇɹɯ
  6. Hi everyone ! Photozone juste released their review of the FE90, and it is quite impressive. You can check the review on this link : http://www.photozone.de/sonyalphaff/974-sony90f28macro And here is another review I've found of the 85f1.4 G Master : http://eh-photo.de/blog/80 Quite interestingly, the reviewer finds it to be sharper than the FE90, which is again highly impressive With the FE55 and these lenses, Sony really has some legendary lenses in its line-up
  7. I have a number of lenses for my a550 but I get a number of water spots when shooting with my el cheapo Sony SAL1855. I think I have narrowed it down to that lens but have tried cleaning the front of the lens and both sides of the clear filter and the spots seem to continue. I'm afraid to clean the inner part of the lens and wouldn't know how to clean inside the camera on the mirror or whatever. Any suggestions.
  8. Hello folks, I am new around here, maybe you can help me decide, I just switch from Nikon to Sony, I am a landscape photographer, and i dont know which lens to buy. Since these 3 lenses are very good. I dont know if buy 16-35 f2.8 GM vs 16-35 f4 Zeiss vs 12-24 f4 GM Please let me know why you choose the lens. Any good or bad experience???? Thank you for your help!
  9. My story is weird. For the past 2 years I have been using my brothers cameras on random occasions to take pictures. It was always infrequent but I managed to get a few good pictures every blue moon when I had it. I've tried Nikon and canon but ultimately stuck with sony and just bought an A7 this week. Now my problem is what lens should I get? I've seen countless youtube videos and reviews for a lot of lenses... mainly Zeiss, but I'm having the hardest time picking 1. Looking back at most of my better pictures I found that I love staying at f 1.8 for pretty much every portrait and most other pictures I take. I love bokeh a lot. But I also want to get into more landscape, street, and background inclusive portraits. From what I've seen so far it sounds like a 35 or 50 are the only options, but the 85 is the portrait lens I'd want for potentially selling graduation pictures. And then comes in price and quality. I can cough up 500 now or wait a month for 700 or so but I'm positive I won't be that patient. But this will mostlikelt be my only lens for atleast 6 months if not years. Sorry for the messy post, any help on my first lens purchase us appreciated.
  10. After a good year of use I looked down at my camera and found that the hood was damaged and part of it had fallen off (in a park somewhere.) While flimsy, I do take some responsibility as I have spent the last year putting the camera in and out of my bag. However, Trying to get a replacement for this part is proving very difficult. Sony UK's website passes you on to a company called "EET Europarts" that doesn't, upon searching, seem to yield anything. I eventually found on a forum (complaining about this, apparently not uncommon, problem) that the part is called ALC-SH129 and that these EET people are charging £48.68 plus 20% VAT!!!! ....For a flimsy piece of plastic that fits on an expensive lens. I remember having a similar problem with Nikon, back in the old days, and another flimsy piece of plastic. It cost me something like £2. If Sony want to be taken as seriously they should be avoiding making flimsy parts that then cost silly money and are hard to find when they inevitably need to be replaced. Has anyone heard of a lens hood breaking under normal use? Didn't think so. I have purchased generic hood (and cap) .
  11. Hello all, I feel I remember reading somewhere that older APS-C E mount lenses had software compatibility issues with the A7S. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? Cheers, T
  12. The 180mm Nikkor f/2.8 is a very sharp lens, and not that big, if you see one come up cheaply on eBay. This Wedge-Tailed Eagle was captured at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia with an NEX-6 and was used as a fold-out poster for the Melbourne Zoo magazine.
