  1. Hi, I have a new A7M2. I purchased a 18 year old Leica 35-70mm F4 Macro/Zoom lens. My question is, I will use this for traveling, generally street shots. I know that I should manually adjust the IBIS to the exact lens size, but at any given point that could change from a 35MM through to 70mm. I would rather not continually adjust the IBIS. What would be the difference or problem if I left it set at 70MM verses 35MM or maybe 50MM? I have searched for an answer, but have found nothing close to answering this question. Thank you,
  2. So I’ve been lurking a bit, and posting just a bit, and I hear a lot of complaints about the a6300 not having IBIS and how awful of Sony because of that. And then I hear people explain that the a6300 would have to be much bigger if it had IBIS, and that would make the camera just like the larger A7RII, etc., and cost so much more, too. So, OSS in the lenses allows the a6300 to be smaller, while IBIS in the A7RII allows for non-stabilized lenses to be utilized, but it’s bigger. I get it. It’s the trade-off. Yet still every day someone rants at Sony for the a6300 not having IBIS. I googled optical stabilization and it seems (to my less educated brain) that IBIS requires actual moving parts inside the camera to stabilize the image on the sensor. And that these mechanical parts take up lots of room inside the camera. And that also costs more. So here’s my question… is it really possible mechanically, or electronically, to actually put IBIS in the a6xxx models without swelling the size, weight and cost up? or do we just live with the trade-off? Thanks for your time
  3. I've been through the process of trying to guess which stabilization mode works the better on the Sony A7Rii. ( Mainly while shooting video! ) After recently using a Canon 70-300mm IS, I found that the IBIS ACTUALLY seem to do better than the Lens IS, which has been the opposite of what I read would be the case. Now comes the point where I'm trying to purchase a longer Canon lens and I'm stuck between the 70-200mm 2.8 (non is) or the 70-200mm 2.8 IS ii? The IS version is great and I've used it a lot, the question being, for the increased price and size, is it actually worth when the in body stabilization seems to be pretty good? Price is nearly double for the IS version, but when shooting handheld with other cameras in the past its been a must..... Who's turning away from IS lens and going just in body, thoughts? I love the IBIS with my 16-35mm 2.6 Canon, seems like I wouldn't be let down?! Then we have the whole other side of the debate with Metabones latest update allowing you to use both, which when I tried didn't seem to work to great, anyone using it?
  4. 'Wondering if the fact that the a7 II's sensor is not screwed down rock solid as other models are due to its IBIS feature, does this present any unique precautions or concerns when cleaning it with a sensor swab. Is the sensor immobilized somehow when the camera is switched off, and is it possible to damage the IBIS mechanism by physically swabbing the sensor and moving it around?
  5. I was sure that this question would have been asked, but nothing came up in the search. Is there any feeling about the odds of an IBIS (5 way) on an Alpha camera with aps-c sensor. I'm very tempted by the 7M2. None of my e-mount lenses are FE, but I might move to FE if there are no plans for IBIS with the smaller sensor. Jim
