[i am new to this forum, so please pardon any topic redundancy this may cause.] Does anyone have any recommendations for the best most-compact flash for my Sony a7R2? I am a field biologist taking photos mostly of still life (plants, insects), usually macro (90mm or 50mm lenses). Thanks for any recommendations you might have!

What is the best value off camera flash for real estate photography?

Hi there. I'm sure others will have had this problem but I can't seem to find a solution on the site. If I mount a manual flash and set a low ISO, the EVF doesn't 'gain up' to allow me to compose the shot. I have to raise the ISO substantially to compose the shot and then drop it back down before I take the picture. A certain recipe for 'missing the moment.' Surely there must be a setting that allows the EVF to 'gain up' so you can see you subject, but uses your set ISO setting when the camera takes the picture. It's such an obvious and significant glitch that I'm sure its just a setting on the camera I have not found. What have I missed / not set? Thanks in advance for your help. James.

Need some advice on using a Canon 580EX II Speedlite with my A7 Mk ii. I am mainly looking for fill light. I don't like the flash look with harsh shadows. So I did some test shots today. Using the FE 55mm f1.8 at ISO 125 and 1/80 second with Speedlite facing forward on Manual at 1/4 power with a Vello Bounce Dome on front. But it might be nice to have something more automatic. I don't think TTL is an option unless you use a Sony flash. I feel the manual method will be hit or miss (mostly miss) and slow. I do have the smallest Sony flash (HVL-F20M). Recommendations?

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone here can answer this question for me, as I've been unable to find any specific discussion of it elsewhere. I have an A7, and I just got the new HVL F32M flash unit. It works wonderfully, etc. However, I also wanted to start using flash off-camera, so I got two Lumopro Universal hotshoe translators, the ones endorsed by the Strobist blog. I thought that with the A7's MI shoe, it could handle a manual center-pin firing, but the setup is not working. My question is: is it the camera or the flash? Do I need another hotshoe adapter, or do I need a different flash? Or is it something even simpler? I've linked to the equipment in question below, and thank you for any help you can offer! (Yes, it does say not compatible with Sony/Minolta, but I assumed that meant the old hot shoe, not the new MI one) http://mpex.com/lumopro-universal-hot-shoe-translator-kit.html Chris
