  1. Hi there, I just got my A7RII so I'm still figuring out the functions that my previous A7II didn't have. Yesterday I shot a 4K video in APS-C Super 35 mode and S-LOG2 and manual focus. Today when i wanted to shoot a couple pictures I noticed that I had to manually switch back to Full Frame and in order to set a fixed ISO I had to disable PP7 as well. Is there a way to set up the camera so that it automatically switches back to my previous still settings (FF, no PP, fixed ISO)?
  2. Hi dear fellows, I got yesterday the new SEL 18-135/3.5-5.6 and tried it for the very first time on the a5100. I summarised my very first impressions here: https://sway.com/lgegg0vLedHJZgNq?ref=Link Enjoy!
  3. I have complained and noticed others complain in various threads about the effort required to change to and from APS-C/Super35 crop mode. This seems like a really easy thing for Sony to fix if enough of us ask for it - that's what this thread is for. I would love to be able to assign APS-C/Super35 mode to a button, in lieu of that a custom function would help as well. Who's with me?
  4. Hello all, I feel I remember reading somewhere that older APS-C E mount lenses had software compatibility issues with the A7S. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? Cheers, T
  5. Many wildlife shooters overlook the small E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS lens. On an APS-C lens it has an equivalent focal length of 315mm and is surprisingly sharp. Matched with a 24 Megapixel sensor it also captures files that can be cropped generously to frame tight. I have posted a Flickr gallery of images captured with this pocket rocket: https://www.flickr.com/photos/markgaler/sets/72157651634812438/

  8. As a previous NEX 5n & 7 user, I just moved up to a A7 with kit 28-70 full frame lens. I realize how the APS-C lens trade-off thing works on the A7 body (vignetting, etc.) and the A7's menu setting to compensate when using these lenses on it by filling the frame with the cropped image, but at the expense of not being able to utilize the full sensor's capabilities. You're creating an image about one third as big as you'd get with a full frame lens, as a matter of fact. What I'm wondering here is this: How would the image resolutions compare, if I shot a given subject using, say, my SEL18200 (18-200) on the NEX 7, vs. my Alpha 7 (using the "ASP-C Size Capture" function? Would the images be comparable, or would the A7's sensor boost the image quality up from the NEX 7's smaller pixels?
  9. Does it still make sense to buy APS-C-Lenses, when there are FE-Lenses, which work as well with A7-Cameras as with APS-C-Cameras? Will the FE-Lenses not bring a better resolution on the APS-C-Sensor, as E-Lenses would do?
