  1. I've been playing with different picture profiles on my A7Sii, but have gotten a bit lost in the woods. A lot of suggested profile modifications specify "default values" - but I've already meddled with those. I do not want to reset the camera, as I have finally customized buttons and camera setup. So I would like to have a list of the default adjustments for all of the camera's default profiles. Anyone know where I can find one? Sony? Can you help?
  2. This is barely better than the original A7s - any frame rate improvements (120 fps) include a 2.2x crop factor and the camera can't output any frame rates higher than 60fps for recording via HDMI anyway. Any reasons to keep this thing? I love the stabilizer, but I'd rather have it on the A7R2, are there any advantages to the S2 other than iso?
  3. Hopefully this will be helpful for some of you who are planning to get the Commlite Canon to Sony AF adapter for the new bodies with Phase Detection. Me and my buddies were just curious about how well some of the Canon L Prime (plus the newer 40mm STM) will perform with the adapter, and we video captured the output and slapped them into a video. Not exactly a scientific comparison but does give an idea. Lenses: Canon EF 200mm f2.8 L ii Canon EF 135mm f2 L Canon EF 100 f2.8 macro L IS Canon EF 85mm f1.2 L ii Canon EF 40mm f2.8 STM Canon EF 24mm f1.4 L ii One thing I noticed is that the newer design lenses (2009 and later) seems to perform better on camera with phase detect, whereas the older ones perform better on contrast detect. Here is a quick one of just A6300 with just 85L ii, 40STM, 24L ii Thanks for checking it y'all
  4. Situation: Shooting video on the A7sii, picture profile off, manual setting. Outdoors in bright light. I set the iso to 50, but when I push record it defaults to 100. Is there a video setting that will allow me to shoot below 100 iso? Am I missing something basic? Are iso's below 100 only for stills?' Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love the camera so far. Thanks!
  5. Hey all, I own the Sony A7Sii, and I'm on the most up to date firmware (v2). The timelapse app is on v3.11. Whenever I try to shoot time lapse via the app, it will only shoot in jpeg no matter what I try. This is what I've tried: 1. Internal is set to shoot raw only, no jpeg, app set to either still or stills and video, but will only save jpeg. 2. The same as above with raw + jpeg. 3. Tried on shutter, aperture priority and manual; no ability to change. I've looked at old videos of the app on a7s and in the app, submenu 2, you could set to raw. In mine you can only set to large, medium, small jpeg. Help?
  6. My recently bought A7sii has worked fine up until recently when it stopped allowing me to control aperture. Bottom the screen now just reads f- I use a commlite with Canon range lenses. Since then, I have tested with another new commlite adaptor and still doesn't work. But did work when testing with metabones and native Sony lens This leads me to be very confused! Any ideas??
  7. Hey, I'm upgrading from the A7s to the A7sii for the low budget commercial/short films that can't afford to rent. This means I rarely do long takes. Looking through the forums these camera's do have an overheating problem. I do have a pretty decent kit from my A7s including a dummy battery to V-mount, cage, and Odyssey7Q+. Though I rarely used my old A7s for 4k since I don't exactly trust HDMI, i've never had an overheating issue with it. It seems like using external batteries, pulling the screen off the back, and the v3.0 firmware helps with cooling during 4k. But it seems like most tests are on continues takes, not for multiple 1-5min takes. Was wondering what peoples experiences are with non-continues 4k recordings, also if anyone uses a dummy battery does that appear to help with overheating. Best regards
  8. Hi all, Forum noob here. I have a pressing concern with my recently-purchased A7sii and am hoping that fellow users will be able to shed some light on it. Essentially, my issue relates to the magenta sensor noise that occurs at ultra high ISOs. This was a known problem with the A7s. In some reviews I've read, however, some notable reviewers such as Philip Bloom have averred that their A7sii units no longer have this problem. Here are some samples from my unit: http://1drv.ms/1MVTfuq and http://1drv.ms/1MVTo0J. Can I trouble someone to confirm that this level of sensor noise is typical of the A7sii at maximum ISO? I've sent my unit in for evaluation, and the Sony service staff have insisted that this is normal across all units, but my tests with some demo units seem to suggest otherwise, I.e. The magenta noise seems much less pronounced. Any insights or help would be much appreciated!
