  2. More than satisfied about my A7r and A7r2. But lacking the “ultra wide angle zoom f2.8”. Have already the Sony 16-35mmF4 and Loxia 21mmf2.8. For astrophotography use also the Samyang 14mmf2.8, Loxia 21mm and 24mmf1.4…. But the Nikon and Tamron seem to cover it all, maybe the quality on the A7r2 will be a little behind the Loxia but would give me the possibility traveling with one lens, max two (like to much the little Loxia) in stead of 4 lenses… Have to say I meanly use these lenses for landscape (at f8-f11) and astrophotography (wide open or one stop closed), so don’t really care about AF… But do care about quality all over the picture, also in the extreme corners certainly regarding landscaping. Did anyone compare it to primes or other zooms on the A7r2 ? Could also consider the Canon 11-24 but a little dark for astrophotography, only f4.0…prefer f2.8 Don’t know how this lens performs on the A7r2 in the extreme corners. Thanks for any reply and friendly greetings
  3. Following up from my guest post from yesterday (link below), where I tore pretty hard into New Leaf, Adorama's third-party warranty, I just got a call from the New Leaf CEO, Sean Higgs. He was very apologetic for the bad experience I had, stressed that they were wrong to not just pay the claim outright from the beginning, and gave me his personal cellphone number should I have any problems with my replacement camera. We also talked about the exculpatory terms and conditions (they don't have to pay for damages brought about by "external causes of any kind"), which give them an "out" to not pay any claim, at their discretion. While he said that the policies are designed to cover drops, spills and accidents of the sort I experienced (water leaking through a backpack), he agreed that the terms could potentially be interpreted broadly to exclude those types of damage (and anything else). He promised to "review" them. It was an interesting and hopefully fruitful telephone call if by my experience, they change their policies and/or terms and conditions so that others won't have to go through what I did. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/six-months-with-the-a7r2-to-hell-then-frozen-by-jonathan-stewart/

  7. I am landscape photographer that has just converted from Nikon to Sony and do most of my work on a tripod. I don't need the constant flashing and distraction of the icon that is telling me I am likely to get blurry images. I know it is not there when using manual, but can it be disabled in Aperture Priority Mode? Damn thing is driving me nuts!
  8. Pro who recently converted from Nikon/Canon to Sony and unable to switch off the highlight warning. Is it possible?
  9. I had the pleasure of doing a second studio session with Erin Brady, Miss USA 2013. For beauty and make-up shots, I usually use a Hasselblad as my go to camera. I just love the large format sensor and the color, tonal gradation and wonderful skin tones that is so characteristic of the older Hasselblad CCD cameras. However, for this session, I decided to leave my comfort zone for the day and used a Sony A7r2 as the camera. It was mounted with a Sony/Zeiss 135mm F1.8 ZA lens (via an A mount adapter) and deep into the session I switched over to the Zeiss Batis 85mm lens to test it's performance as well. For headshots, I'm still a long lens guy - my preference is 135mm, 150mm or a 200mm focal length depending on the camera body and the shape of the model's face. Thus, this shot was taken with the 135mm F1.8 but once my shot list was accomplished, I gave the 85mm a whirl and I must admit that I was quite surprised just how nicely the 85mm performed in this situation.
