  1. Today before work I was hiking, slipped and fell into a creek and my Sony A7R w/ Metabones adaptor + Canon 24-70 f2.8 got dunked for a split second. I immediately turned the camera off, hiked out and headed home. I then did the following: 1. Removed battery 2. Removed SD card 3. opened doors, etc. I left everything out to dry under a ceiling fan and headed back to work. I was in a rush to get back to work and stupidly didn't open the LCD screen all the way. I also stupidly put everything back in and turned the camera on when I got home to try it out. It was turning on, but acting really weird so I turned everything off and removed everything again and did some more research and finally decided to put the camera (with the sensor covered) in a bag of rice. In short, I'm asking if any other A7 owners have had this experience? I'm also curious if the mistakes that I made (turning the camera back on briefly, not putting in rice immediately) could prove to be fatal? Any thoughts or insight appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  3. When I first attached my new A7R to my new MacBook it would not connect at all. I then tried it on my older iMac and the Live View set to USB PC Remote worked. After several contacts with Apple, Sony and Phase One (Capture One), I installed new A7R firmware and Remote Camera Control software. I finally got it to work on the Macbook BUT no Live View, just tether. I then tried it again on the iMac and it no longer worked??? Only after several hours of trial and error what I ended up with is that I can tether the A7R in Capture One but no Live View - its not supported for this. I got this camera specifically to shoot tethered and have Live View in Capture One. So after spending a lot on hardware and software all I got was tether. I already had that with Lightroom for Hasselblad but Sony is not supported by Adobe. All this proprietary stuff is complete nonsense and a waste of time. Welcome to the 21st century - Not! Very disappointed with Sony, Phase One and Lightroom. I really regret having made these investments.

  15. Hello, new to the forum, I come to you in a Time of Darkness: I recently bought an extremely cheap used A7R, that has been working perfectly fine for a month. I used it yesterday for a couple of timelapses (using à third party plugin battery thing), no problem. But this morning aouch almost all my pics have terrible bugs... If I use a shutter speed under around 1/30, the lower third of the image is very over exposed, regardless of the settings. (https://flic.kr/p/EQq1fh ) This phenomenon gets worse as I rise the camera, and better/disappears when I shoot from up above. When I use a slow shutter speed, 1sec or more, the whole picture is wierdly messed up ( ).... I'm kind of desperate... Tried with différent Lenses, reseting.... First I thought the shutter was broken, but with the wierd colours on the long exposures... No clue. Plus it was working perfectly yesterday... Has it happen to anyone here? Anyone has an Idea? Will it cost thousands to fix? Should I just pick up another hobby like fishing?

  23. Today I sold my trusty but ancient Canon 5DmkII. Well, it's not yet actually sold, but the first bid has been placed, so go it will, come Sunday! My last EOS lens went yesterday. I thought about keeping it, but the AF didn't work properly on my A7R (it was a 24-105 f4L, so you'd think it would go...) and there's no way I can afford an A7RII just yet. So my next little project is to compare my 3 50mm lenses - Canon FD 50mm f1.2, SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4, and a nice Helios 58mm f2. I'm particularly looking forward to see what the Canon can do - the adapter came in the post this morning
  24. I'm planning on picking up a Sony A7R II with a Sony 35MM Distagon lens. I tracked down a store that has a great price on the camera+lens but the only concern I have is that the camera may be an initial production run, or very close to it. The camera is in stock but the owner of the store told me that I have the option of waiting until early Dec to get a new production camera if I want. There are a great deal of Christmas events coming up and I use my cameras for shooting family pictures so I'd rather not wait. I'm also concerned that the early Dec arrival date for a newer production camera may not occur since delays are quite common. Are there any issues with the initial production run of the A7R II? I've read about a few issues here and there regarding some problems but most of them seem to be issues that may eventually be fixed via a firmware update. The overheating issue with videos is very isolated and only seems to occur depending on what you're doing with the camera. Also the issue appears to be something that doesn't look like it's isolated to the initial production cameras. The owner of the store did mention that many people are not purchasing the initial production run cameras for some reason and are requesting later runs of the units. Should I wait or pick up the camera that's already in stock? Also, has anyone had any experience using an A7R II with the Sony HVL-F43M flash? I know there are other options out there but I'm pretty much settled on the HVL-F43M unless someone has any negative experience with that particular flash? Thanks for the feedback!
  25. After about six months in 2014 with the original A7R, I decided that I hated the camera and went back to good ol' Nikon (D810) but after looking back at these pictures I made, I decided to give sony another try with the Mark II- I'm glad I did. I missed this look! Side note, I realized most of my art is NSFW sooo here's the link to my website and stuff I can't post here lol http://QOliverPhoto.com
