  1. Hi, here is a shot I made of a lovely lady. A6500 Canon 85mm 1.2 @f1.4 (If memory serves) Metabones Speedbooster CameTv Boltzen 55w lights (x2) Diy Hand-painted Backdrop Thanks for looking!

  4. Hi I have a request for A7RII owners with a 85mm G-Master lens. I have a very strange issue. I have a a7Rii and when i put de 85mm G-Master on my camera, with camera off but battery in the camera, it will NOT autofocus on a subject beyond 30 feet AND I am not able to MANUAL focus beyond 30 feet, belive it or not... This is fixed by removing the battery from the camera and put it back in, then the lens on the camera does autofocus and manual focus to infinity again. Can someone check if he/she has the same problem so I know I need to take the lens in for repairs.
  5. When I received my 85mm 1.4 GM last month, I was anxious to try out it's ability to use eye focus for a studio session. Thus, I contacted Olga, one of my favorite models to work with, and we did a session using colored wigs, movement and some typical headshots. This image is one from the color wigs grouping and it was shot with eye focus, continuous focus on a Sony A7rii body. Lighting was a 4 light setup using Broncolor lights and modifiers. Overall, I'm really happy with the 1.4 GM... Yes, it does make noise, yes it isn't the fastest focusing lens I've used but other than those minor draw backs, the imaging from it is stunning. Hopefully, you'll agree. (Note: this image was post processed in Photoshop CC)
  6. I've put my Batis 85mm lens up on ebay, starting bid only $1, free USA shipping. The lens is great, no problems, lightly used, has one minor scuff on the barrel and a few barely-visible scratches on the hood, otherwise is optically perfect. http://www.ebay.com/itm/122003450948?ssPageName=STRK:MESCX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1554.l2649

Took this portrait during a family session just before Thanksgiving in Alabama. Shot with the a57 and Samyang manual 85mm f/1.4. One of my favorites!
  9. Shortly after getting the Canon FD 85mm f/1.2 L lens to use on the Sony A7 (Fotodiox adapter I think) I decided to take it to the park to see what wildlife I could get. I found some very cooperative squirrels. Unfortunately they were so friendly that they were often too close for the lens to focus (90cm minimum focus distance). This is an un-cropped image.
  10. Just a few Head shots. Let me know what you all think.
  11. Hey folks, I am shooting Hilary again in the studio (this is being posted at 5:45pm EST time on Tuesday Jan 12th) and this is going to be a part of my Review of the 85mm Zeiss Batis Lens. If you want to follow me on Periscope to watch the shoot when I got live, add me @kyleandrewphoto to watch through the app, or click here to watch live on the web (although the app will inform you exactly when I go online and Live if you follow me and set it to do so). This picture was taken a few moments ago:
  12. Hi, new here. Posting some of my abstract work. I removed the colour from the image and added false colour in to suit the mood i was going for. I also mirrored the image in photoshop. My settings are as follows: Camera: a7 Lens: Samyang 85mm f/1.4 Shutter speed: 1/800 ISO: 100 Aperture: f/1.4 Check out my website at: http://www.synaestheticaphoto.com/ Any comments and questions are welcome
  13. I figure this lens deserves it's own thread. I personally have very high hopes. It's going to have to be astonishingly good to oust my Canon 85mm f1.2 L II. BUT: If it is, not just technically, but also in the "feel" of the images, which is borderline etherial with that particular Canon glass. I'm in, all in, and will Sell my 6D+85L and not look back. The only reason I have a Canon body at all is to shoot that lens natively. I'm not a DSLR guy, and I don't have a particular affinity towards Canon. Sony, this is your moment.. j.

  15. This is just fun speculation, not based on any evidence, but . . . What if Sony and Zeiss colluded to delay widespread release of the Batis 85mm until the G-Master 85 was announced? There's some logic behind this. Sony and Zeiss enjoy a partnership where what's good for one is also good for the other, so: 1. If Sony decided to pull the trigger on the GM 85 lens after Zeiss had already announced the Batis, Sony could rightfully fear that the in the interval between the release of the Batis and the release of the GM 85, everybody who wanted an 85mm lens would have purchased the Batis. 2. This would naturally reduce the demand for the GM 85. 3. Customers who bought the Batis might later regret their decision, and express anger at Sony for foisting a superior (allegedly) product on the market only months after they'd bought their Batis. 4. Delaying widespread release (hey, I've already got mine, but I ordered way back in July) would therefore allow the products to compete on their merits, and; 5. With the market still relatively wide open, consumers would be able to make an educated choice of which lens to buy, which is ultimately better for everybody. What do you guys think? Makes sense, right? Again, I just pulled this out of my ass - it's total speculation.

  20. I know this topic is out there in abundance but I wanted to put it in a forum where Sony products wouldn’t be bashed! I saved my pennies and finally switched from a canon 80D, using an APS-C sensor, to a Sony A7iii in September. This was in an attempt to change my hobby into something that might make me some weekend money. Annoyingly I could only afford to buy the Sony with the native 50mm 1.8. Unfortunately, the love affair of had with the nifty fifty from canon was sorely missed. Working as a part time family lifestyle photographer, I found it just lacked.... Something. Anyway, I’ve once again been saving and want your opinions on diversifying the lenses at my disposal. I think I miss the focal length of my crop 50mm, so the highly praised Sony 85mm 1.8 the first lens in leaning towards but would you then chop the 50mm in for a little more towards say a Sigma art 35 1.4. If you were after 2 general lifestyle primes to go with a 70-200 canon f4, what would they be? Thanks for your thoughts and I’m pleased to be joking the community!
  21. Hey! I just recently bought the Fotodiox mount adapter from Nikkor F-Mount to E- mount, so I can use my two Rokinon lenses on my a7 camera. I have the Rokinon 16mm t2.2 full frame and Rokinon 85mm t1.5 full frame. I tried the adapter with my 16mm and it worked just fine both APS-C OFF and ON. But the 85mm doesn't work when I switch between APS-C OFF and ON and it stays in ON , so I can't use the whole full frame and it sticks with the crop APS-C. I've just tried these settings in the a7 Menu since I can't find anywhere else an option to work this out. Any ideas? Thank you !
  22. I went to see BWB featuring Norman Brown, Kirk Whalum and Rick Braun at the Lyman Center. I brought along a Sony a7r2 mounted with a 70-200mm 4.0 along with a Batis 85m 1.8. Most images were shot at 6400 ISO as the light was somewhat on the dim side. Did shoot wide open on the 70-200 and on the Batis, I tried f stops between 1.8 - 3.5. In the raw images, the Batis is noticeably sharper and also has better color and contrast. Really like that lens the more I use it. Surprisingly, focusing was pretty darn respectful - set on continuous, face recognition on. Here is the link to the full set of images https://stillsandvideo.squarespace.com/blog/bwb Here's one sample from the set:
