  1. Hi I noticed that when I change a battery when filming with my A7Sii and using the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 4K Monitor via HDMI, the camera resolution changes from XAVC S 1080p to 4K. Not only that but with huge consequences to me and my client, the HDMI settings switch from Memory Card and HDMI to HDMI only. This means that when you press the record button on the camera, it doesn't record internally any more. It does say REC on the back monitor but in white and not red. Unfortunately I didn't notice the change in colour or the fact that the Monitor had switched to full frame. So the event I was filming didn't actually get filmed in part, possibly costing me a client. When I returned after the shoot, I was able to recreate it as shown here - https://youtu.be/00mFIb77LKE. Has anyone else had this problem? I posted a picture of my other HDMI settings should anyone think that this may have a bearing on my issue. Thanks John
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1pNsjgGMGw This is my first video I have ever done and therefore also my first Youtube upload. I hope i can improve in the future and deliver better videos. Please leave some critic All i can say is that the A6300 creates some stunning video, even without using the sharpest lenses or SLOG Profiles. Love this little thing!
  3. Hello there, Check out this video of my cutting the handrail posts for a wooden deck project. It was shot with the Sony A7RII and the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 Art lens. Enjoy, Kacey
  4. Hello! 4 years ago I filmed timelapse with the Sony A77 and Sony A65 cameras. Final material was built in a format 4K. For many reasons open access in the maximum quality to this video I could just now. Please rate the video. But consider that I did it in far 2013
  5. How long Sony A6300 could record for in 4K 24P at 100 Mbps to the SD card Sony SF-64UX? At the ambient temperature of 29 degrees Celsius (84,2 degrees Fahrenheit) we did't catch any overheating issues. We've done this tests several times and one of them is shown on this video.
  6. Here's a way to externally monitor while using touch focus! Put the camera in 4K video mode. Save the setting to Memory recall 2. Plug in an external monitor. Start recording first. This does not work before recording. Touch the camera monitor screen (on the camera) to focus where you want. (must be in autofocus mode) This only works in 4K, video mode and you can see the focus brackets where it will focus, just not the image itself. That will be on the external monitor. You can also set the focus speed and sensitivity to your liking in menu 2/1/9 and 2/2/9. Focus may "hunt" at the end of each touch without adequate light, so set to slow in 2/1/9. I tried to attach small file-size SD version of a rack focus just now but the software says "Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" I found this hack after reading on the web that you can also see the video ISO setting when set to the same memory mode. (4K only) It will show what the ISO will be for the auto setting in video mode if you touch the AEL lock button before recording. This is handy to predict whether you're going to have too much noise in the shadows, especially if you're recording in a bright environment where you can't easily see the monitor. (I think 800 ISO is the minimum allowed for 4K) What other hacks will MR2 do? Let me know what you find!

  8. I recently got myself the 18-105 G master lens for my A7s ii. For documentaries it will do so well. HOWEVER. I do have one major issue with it. I film everything in 4k. The lenses I've been using are not Full Frame lenses. My workaround has been ‘Zoom Setting: ‘On: ClearImage Zoom’’ This allows me to punch in just enough to crop out the vignette. This lets me use any lenses I want and still film in 4K. How to enable this option: The 18-105 disables this option sadly. And now I’m left with this horrible vignetting. It does however add this feature to itself which I find VERY odd. Once you zoom in to the 105mm mark, it then uses the Clear Image zoom. I want the reverse. Clear image zoom at x1.4 and then the Lens. Is there a way to fix this or am I stuck with this?
  9. never mind - found answer in manual; but don't see how to remove my post - only edit it
  10. We shot this commercial for the "Stuttgarter Wohnungsbaugenossenschaften" completely on an A7s with an Atomos Shogun recorder. Various Canon-mount Lenses were used over a Metabones-Adapter. Our source material was 4K, 24p, but we did the editing offline (1080p) on an Avid media composer. We shot a little over 500 GB. For onlining and grading we went on to a baselight system. After the color correction, we put out the final dcp in 2K flat. The shooting took place in Munich in early April during two exiting days. In the first scene our location was the infamous "Schwabinger Sieben". To keep the original mood of that "cave", we used nearly no lights but candles. The A7s did a fantastic job at ISO 12800. The Youtube-file doesn´t quite represent the information that is in there (in the shadows), but the dcp for cinema sure does. The Senior Colorist at Das Werk in Munich was really impressed with the low-light capabilities of the A7s. Filming with a small and light camera like this added also great flexibility and speed to the production. We actually used a very simple slider for the dolly shots. Hope you enjoy our little thriller, which stresses a problem for German tenants: The fact that the landlord can arbitrarily claim his property for personal needs - even if you just made your home sweeter
