DrJohn got a reaction from LiveShots in Daytime and Nighttime Moon
This was actually more of an experiment. It is very rare to see clear skies in my area. I grabbed the closest camera and shot these photos handheld. I didn't have time to setup a tripod, etc. I found it interesting to see the same moon in daytime and nighttime.
Daytime Moon: Sony A6500, 70-350 mm lens at 350 mm, f/8, 1/2000 sec, ISO 800, handheld, file size reduced for web.
Nighttime Moon: Sony A6500, 70-350 mm lens at 350 mm, f/8, 1/1600 sec, ISO 6400, handheld, file size reduced for web.

I had an extended stopover of 16 hours on my way from Seoul to the UK so utilised it by spending some time in the city.  Scouted around a bit ready for twilight, was feeling poorly due to a heavy cold, so didn't see as much as I would have liked.   Sony A7r4 FE 24 - 70 GM   Hello guest! DrJohn reacted to CathyF in BIF wing movement aberration
I have a problem with shooting birds where there is wing movement. Its difficult to explain what's happening so please have a look at the attached images.
I have two Sony A7iii bodies and it is the same with both. I have had the same problem with both the 70-200 and 200-600. I've tried turning OSS off on the lens. These were both taken using a tripod. They were taken with shutter speeds in excess of 1/1000. I would expect motion blur in the wing tips but certainly not what I am getting.
I contacted Sony who suggested I update the firmware but it is still happening.
Has anyone come across this or got any suggestions on what else to try?

DrJohn got a reaction from Makeev in The First Wild Life photo of the season - Swan
After being cooped up all winter with nasty weather and Covid 19 shutdown in New York, it felt really good to get out hiking and taking photos. This was my first photo of the season. I didn't expect to take any photos so I left the A7RIV home and just took the A6500. The swan was on the far side of the pond.

    Thanks Chrissie for your information.
I've been doing wildlife for a long time, but not birds in flight. I have spent many many hours waiting for a shot that never happened.
I currently have the A7RIV and the Sony 100-400 mm with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters. I'm also considering the new Sony 200-600 mm. Both lenses and camera have OSS.
I live near the water. So. Seagulls are easy to find. They even fly over my house. And, for some reason I really like seagulls.

I was out last night with my A6500 camera and 70-350 mm lens. The focal length was too short for lunar photography. It was what I had on hand and so I took the shot anyway. You can enlarge this photo 200-300% without it degrading too much. I reduced size for the internet. The Sony cameras and lenses are really great.
