I have had problems in the past of having my nose move the focus spot when the touch pad is active!

Also just as an FYI, if you're moving the spot focus around and want it in the center quickly you can simply press the joystick in like a button. That makes the focus area snap to center.

I have the habit, good or bad, of reformatting after importing.  Not a professional so not hanging onto images as back up on the cards.  As a result I have reformatted my cards thousands of times (sometimes three or four times per day) without any issues for over a decade.  I do copy rather than move on import, and of course have lightroom not import previously imported images.  It is just me, I don't like hundreds of images on a card.

    Depends on the 'hard drive'.

Formatting a spinning disk is a lot different than overwriting a solid state memory card. There's a lot more effort involved formatting a disk than erasing the contents of a chip.

I've lost count of the number of times I have formatted my SD cards. Every time I finish uploading my shots to my laptop, I run a format… never had an issue

but a very simple delete all would be useful, I am not used to Sony menu and I found them complicated

I think you can set the Focus Area to Center (or Center Lock-On) … should be in the menu…

I think there are options to disable touch focus (via the display) and joystick as well…

I had the 35 1.4, it was a great lens on the α6500 with an equivalent focal length of about 52mm.

When I upgraded α9 I stopped using it, I like the 35 focal length but I wanted something smaller for a general walk-about lens. I switched over to the 35 f2.8, it’s very compact and gives me the shots that I need.

I like this (dxomark) as a starting point:

you can narrow your search by various criteria, like focal distance/range, aperture, mount-type, manufacturer and many more. Then you can sort the results by price, overall score and/or various image quality sub-disciplines.
