Underexposed- this is as a result of exposing for the sky and not the bird
I have adjusted as best I can the exposure in Photoshop to clarify my statement

I have the 400mm GM and use it quite a lot for Wildlife and sports, a 300mm f2.8 would be quite a useful lens, of this I have no doubt - just not for me and I have all applications covered with the lenses I already own
One of my all time favourite birds to photograph- very skittish and shy birds males for a challenge, I am happy to meet

I'm a returning member - as a Pro photographer I did desert to DP Review ( sorry about that) I'm back now and hopefully be accepted as a contributing member and re-establish myself here
