Good. The bigger question is why they would think anyone wants sounds like that anyway! Because they actually have nothing to do with each other. Silent Shooting only turns off the mechanical shutter and and turns on the electronic-only system... for stills. It is true though, that your camera isn't very silent if it beeps whenever it focuses. Power-save certainly works for stills. Maybe it's different for movies. And, also, there are differences between movies in movie mode (on the dial) and just pressing the red button any time (which I actually disable: it is too easy to press by accident).

Set it to manual focus and pre-focus it where you want it to before starting the video. You can also adjust the speed of focus racking during video. Put it to slow to make it much less distracting when the camera refocusses

I'm assuming you understand the concept of depth of field related to aperture and background-to-subject-to-camera distance. So no, assuming you're close to the camera you won't be able to have both in the same focus (unless you manually focus between yourself and the background). You can however make the background more in focus by moving closer to the background. If you enable Aperture-priority mode instead of Movie mode, you can manually pick a smaller aperture. Make sure to set your menu such that the record-button works in all modes (not just movie mode). A small aperture (like F/8) will also make the background less blurred. A combination of these suggestions might yield the desired result.

Thank you Ken, you're a (battery) life saver. I've now disabled IR and added an entry for it in my quick menu. Cheers!

7Sii here but there should be something similar in a 4 year newer camera. TOOLBOX > Audio Signals >> OFF For me it takes care of focus beep and record beep. (Maybe turn speaker volume down/off if that doesn't do the trick?)

After being cooped up all winter with nasty weather and Covid 19 shutdown in New York, it felt really good to get out hiking and taking photos. This was my first photo of the season. I didn't expect to take any photos so I left the A7RIV home and just took the A6500. The swan was on the far side of the pond. In addition to the photographic merit, of course: as a biker, I like the way how this bird is doing a curved flight, yet keeping his head perfectly aligned with the horizon. Pretty much like motorcyclists do it, too. Image source: http://www.ridesmart.info/img/blogs/leaning diagram.jpg
