Yes I have used Sony A7R for bird photography

I know it's not that good for wildlife and sport photography due to slow AF speed and bad object tracking

but I wanted to use the 36MP sensor for more cropping ability

All photos were taken using :

Sony A7R

+

LA-EA4 adapter

+

Minolta 600mm f/4 APO G lens

you will get great image quality using this setup but it will be harder to catch birds in flight

Impressive!

I've been thinking about an a6000 and the FE 70-200. I know it will only be 300mm a the maximum but I also expect that with 36mpx I can crop quite aggressively.

Umm .. A6000 is 24mp not 36 .. But for a crop sensor , the 70-200 will be 105-300mm which is the minimum acceptable focal length for bird photography.

If you know a spot where you can get close to birds it will be more than good, but for wildlife it's hard to get close to birds.

If you use LA-EA4, the AF is on the adaptor, so AF speed of the body isnt a problem anyway.

Great shots btw.

Thank you :)

I know that but A7R's problem is the shutter lag , and the burst speed.

Obvious shutter lag which is bad for sport and wildlife photography, but I'm getting used to it now..
