Help with the delete function

Recommended Posts

Can Sony fix the sh*tty design of deleting photos? Not only do you have to go into the playback menu to be able to select a multiple delete function but you have to manually click every f*cking picture you want to delete.

Not a problem right? Just delete by date? Of course, that would be smart if Sony allowed you to delete more than 100 pictures at a time! It won't select dates for which there are more than 100 pictures, it won't even select 100 pictures at a time for that date. It just won't do anything.

Well why would you need to delete 100 pictures at a time on your camera, just move them to your computer! Right, great idea, except Sony F-ED UP THE FORMATTING! So even when I try and move them all I'm left with ghost files that read "unable to display" which I have to manually click to delete even though THEY'RE NOT EVEN ON THE F*CKING CAMERA!!!!

What the hell kind of shitty design is this? Just a mistake right? WRONG! People have been complaining about the same problems since 2015 with no fix, that's unbearable and unbelievable.

Sony's main piece of advice? Just format your card every time you use it in your computer, we recommend that anyway. That's just bullshit avoiding a problem they've had for years.

I'm incredibly frustrated about a pretty big hang up on an otherwise amazing camera (a6300). I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a trick to delete things a little faster or not deal with this problem since apparently Sony has no intention of ever fixing it. Sorry for the rant and thanks in advance!

I never have those problems ... such as ghost files

after moving pix to a PC. Apparently Sony doesn't

like you and so you should not be using Sony gear.

Bail out while you still can.

I've had x number of Sony cameras and never experienced what you are describing. Probably your card is corrupted in some way.

It's quite important to not format your card in your computer because that will remove the headers. Only format it in the camera or using an SD formatter tool on your computer.

As to deleting your photos one by one, nobody does that normally.

Ok, thank you for the helpful response. I did use the camera formatting setting and still ran into the problem. Maybe just a corrupted SD card but I'd be surprised because it was brand new and has only been used for the camera.

It would be easy if I could delete by date but because the file is technically not there it sets the date to 0-0 and tries to delete every photo on the card
