Hi!

I am considering the purchase of a SONY A7rIII and I was wondering if anyone here had tried using this camera with 1970s vintage Leitz M 35mm and 50mm F2 Summicron lenses?

How well does this combination work?  Which adaptor do you suggest?  Autofocus is not a priority.

Hello again and thanks!

Hi Rich,

I am an avid user of vintage lenses with my A7II. Loving it - in fact the systems adaptability to vintage lenses was the motivation for my switch from Nikon

Regarding your question, I fail to see why you would chose the A7RIII over the A7RII since it seems to me that the improvements are mainly around improved AF performance, which would appear pointless - unless you will also use native lenses.

With regards to adapters, I would recommend http://www.novoflex.com/index.php I used a cheaper adapter for my Zeiss lenses at first but in my experience only the Novoflex emulates the same sense of quality and haptics as these gorgeous lenses.

Enjoy the experience!

Marc

Metabones adapters also stand out from the

great crowd of cheaper adapters. I've also seen

an instance of better design from Metabones

than from Novoflex, despite Novoflex's excellent

reputation [and extreme prices]. In particualr it's

a case of real leaf springs vs merely slotting the

lobes [Metabones using the leaf springs].
