Here's a little something from "left field" and is big part of our current Sony Alpha history. Sony acquired Konica/Minolta in 2006. Prior to that, the Minolta A9, Dynax 9, Maxxum 9 was Minolta's flagship, professional SLR. Some even regard it as one of the best SLRs ever built! Sony retained the "A" moniker for the name of the mount, calling it "Alpha." Until the modern Sony ILCA-A99MK2 (A99ll) and the Sony SLT A99V, and given that all the Legacy Minolta A-mount lens still fit and produce excellent results on Sony A-mount cameras, it can easily be said that the A-mount is the mother to the modern day Sony cameras and lenses.

Looks great. There's a small group of people who still shoot the Dynax/Alpha 9. There even used to be an SSM upgrade available. So, some People shoot film with the New Sony SSM lenses. It looks great.
