Party Pooper :-(

As to the OP, it's pretty clear he was on the right

track and came here to double check his intended

choice, and has been well advised before all the

silliness erupted. I do, sincerely, hope and expect

that he's also been amused and entertained.

Kinda inneressin that this thread features 2 noobs

from opposite ends of the rationality spectrum. It's

been a fun thread. Useful and entertaining.

Later, Dude :-)

Dudes! There is room for different points of view. I'm sensitive to noise but at the same time I acknowledge that most of the world's iconic photographs are grainy and have other technical issues.

Let's get back to the OP's question. He must think we're nuts here (always a possibility).

It's okay, I'm picking up good info. I'm a novice, so I'm still learning.

My plan to bring my A6000 to shoot the concert might have failed. However, I am still looking for a good lens that gives some reach and can shoot fast in low light.

Assuming that price is a factor, one option could be the FE 85mm f1.8. It's a 135mm equivalent on the A6000, which makes it a fast tele prime.

Otherwise, you could look for a used 70-200/4. It won't be much more expensive but provides more reach and flexibility.

If price is not a factor, just get the full set of f2.8 GM zooms ;)

Thanks Jaf, I will look into all of the lenses your listed. I'm going to bring my A6000 down to my local camera retailer and give all of those a test.

I have seen nice photos made with the fairly cheap

KAMLAN 1.1/50mm lens at rock concerts!

Acoarst !

Nearly everything that a premium lens has to

offer, in terms of IQ, is either not applicable or

even detrimental to rock concert imaging.

I'm a casual photographer and prefer to let the camera handle the apertures/shutter speed/ISO for concerts. I'm not good enough to adjust the controls in a manual setting.

Pay attention to the metering.  If someone is in a spotlight and the camera exposes for the background the person will be overexposed.
