Clear Indoor Shots

Greetings!  I am a brand new owner of an a5100. My outdoor shots are nice and sharp but my indoor images do not seem clear.  A sample image is attached.  They seem to be no clearer than my iPhone's images.  I have been using the Auto settings.  Am I correct in assuming that the kit lens that comes with the a5100 is too slow to produce crystal clear images indoors?  I will primarily be using the camera indoors so am I looking at having to purchase a faster prime lens?  I have seen people refer to the Sony 50 mm 1.8 lens but am confused because there seem to be at least two 50 mm 1.8 lenses available.  I would appreciate any tips that could be provided to help me produce sharp photos indoors.  Thank you very much!
