Advertisement Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Hi paiva, Take a look here a 6000 batteries end quickly. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Kirkp
Is this a genuine Sony branded battery? How old is it? Some non-Sony batteries are fine, but you must shop carefully. Lithium ion batteries degrade much more quickly if stored with a full charge. For that reason I usually store my spare batteries with a partial charge (about 75%). If I’m leaving for a trip I’ll bring them all up to full charge. When I return, I’ll rotate the spares through the camera over the next few weeks to draw them back down to 75%. I have about six batteries for my Sony cameras, but only two are Sony branded. They have lasted several years with this approach. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
tinplater
The OP language suggests translation to English from something else. I wonder if he/she is really just referring to the short battery life and drain, even when camera is off rather than battery failure?
Canujiony
I'm still new into my A6000 ownership but I will agree the battery life is stupidly poor. Went on a photowalk and leaving the camera on so I'd be ready to grab a shot and in under 2 hours and 47 shots the battery went from fully charged to dead. Immediately ordered 2 wasabi's with a charger and just ordered 2 more since I'll be taking my A6000 on vacation with me and figure I'll need them if I shoot any video. And don't even get me started on the in-camera USB charging. 310 minutes? That's 5 (FIVE!!!) hours. Ridiculous.
smithrog34
Hi. My a6000 unload the battery quickly, even off. Does anyone know anything about this? thanks I have the same issue. One trick...turn ON airplane more when you do not need wireless capabilities or while storing. With it OFF, it is like your phone and will search for networks, using precious battery life. angelaz
lamontcranston
Turning on Airplane Mode will help significantly in preventing battery discharging when off. Hopefully you also ordered the Wasabi Charger when you ordered the batteries. It works very quickly, usually about 45 minutes or less to a full charge. Much quicker then in-camera charging. bigal1000
I just picked up 2 extra Sony batteries and bought a double charger from Sunroom, it works great and I always have 2 charged and ready to go.............
lamontcranston
Hint from David Busch: Leave "Pre AF" OFF (default setting). David Busch says leaving Pre-Auto Focus On will deplete your battery much faster because auto focus will be ON even before you press the shutter button half-way down. Also leave Airplane Mode ON. That will help a little.
zahtar
Old topic and no activity by the OP, but battery life is always relevant and useful to the new user. In addition to airplane mode and pre-AF=off, one can also deactivate the AutoReview function, at menu 2-1-5. I have found it helps. Generally browsing the memory card to go through the photos seems to waste quite a bit of charge... I've fount that a new battery (sony or other brand) needs quite a few cycles before it reaches its normal capacity. I recently bought a cheap chinese copy that needed 15+ cycles and now lasts a lot more. Still not as much as the genuine though. Last but not least, a powerbank can save you! Instead of having a second battery (until a few months ago), I charged the camera in bag with a powerbank (2A output). I think the battery went from less than 20% to 100% in less than an hour. Perfect during a lunch stop!
