Switching from Canon

Aloha to the community,

I just made the switch this week as I sold all my Canon gear to buy a Sony A7Rii coupled with the new 85mm 1.8 from Sony.

I enjoyed shooting with my 6D (you can see my portfolio right here : www.okinson.com ) but I feel like the A7Rii is more suited to what I do, as I like spending hours retouching my pictures on photoshop :) (hence the bigger resolution is a big +).

So far I'm still taming the beast. The EVF is really great, and the only minus point I found is the handle that is a bit too small for my taste (I think this is something they corrected with the A7R iii).

I still need to figure out how to lock the AF without half-pressing the shutter button (I was used to an AF-ON button on the back of my previous camera), but I'm sure I'll find the answer around here or in the user manual :)

Cool. The A7R2 has a lot more functionality than the 6D. It's a good idea to watch some youtube tutorials to get a feel for what the camera can do. I always mention Gary Friedman's videos, he's the Sony guru.

Absolutely possible to assign your choice of rear button

to the AF activation. IIRC, you ALSO hafta inform the

camera to REMOVE it from the shutter release, or else

you wind up with BOTH, which is waaaaay annoying !

Maybe I'm thinking of another camera, but do be aware

I just might be thinking straight here. I have 10 different

menu systems in use :-(

Yes it does ! Actually I bought the ebook from Gary on amazon and it's plenty of useful intel. I found what I was looking for in section 7.21 in the book (AF w/ shutter).

Plenty of possibilities to do what I want, this is awesome :D
