A9 with Sigma 120-300+1.4 teleconverter issue

Hi

I just bought a Sony A9 and I'm loving it!

I bought a Sigma MC-11 adapter with it and the Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 witch is working exceptionally well, fast focus and all focus modes are available.

But! When I add to it the Sigma 1.4x teleconverter I no longer have all the focus options available. I have updated the firmware of the adapter and the lens. I tried to update the converter but there was no update available.

Does anyone here know if this is this a firmware issu or a hardware issu of the teleconverter?

It hasta be firmware, as a device with no moving parts

cannot affect functions selectively. Hardware-wise, it's

gotta go, or not go. But the firmware situation may be

intentional ... IOW not an oversight that will be fixed by

an update. Or it could be oversight to be updated later

but there's no way to predict that.

I also have the Sigma 120-300 Sport and MC-11, however I have the same issue with the A7rii, this is because although the lens is fully compatible, the converters aren't. This seems like major oversight from Sigma. See the notes on lens compatibility in this link
