Price drop when A7RII/A9 is released?

Recommended Posts

I sold off all my Canon gear and was about to pull the trigger on the A7II when rumors about the supposedly imminent release of A7RII/A9 started circulating. Should one expect a significant price drop of the A7II when that happens? Because if so, I'll wait a bit longer... Does anyone have a qualified guess? What usually happens when Sony release new models?

In my Sony experience (going back to their acquisition of Konica-Minolta camera tech) there won't be any price drops from Sony. However, there will likely be lots of used a7ii's available on the market as some owners migrate to the new tech. Btw, I currently own the a7ii as well as the a6000. Sony's best prices are generally to be had during the Christmas season. For example, last year I bought the a77ii and vertical grip for the price of the body only. I used it for a few months and sold the combo for more than I paid for it!

The three A7 models never seemed to affect each other's prices. The a7ii got a price drop 1-2 months ago.

Can't get a sweeter deal than that!
