Suggestions for keeping a running dog in focus when shooting video with A7SII?

Using an A7SII and a 24-70mm F4, I want to shoot video of a dog running around a yard really fast. I will shoot 4K 24fps at around f5. I may or may not use a tripod.

I'm going to manually focus, though what can I do to keep the dog in focus as it is running around?

Thanks.

I practical terms, go for maximium depth of field with hyperfocal distance. You won't be able to keep a thin focus plane on the dog at all times.

Dogs change direction and speed randomly. I doubt AF lock will track it for long. If you use hyperfocal distance instead, everything from a few meters to infinity will be sharp enough. So basically, you just have to point the camera at the dog.

I don't shoot video....but wouldn't it be easier and possibly more accurate to use auto focus lock on rather than manual focus?
