Help - pictures displayed sharp on a6300 but not after transfer!

Recommended Posts

Dear community,

I have an issue that is driving me nuts and hope you can help me with it.

I recently bought an a6300 and a Sigma 19mm f2.8 as i wanted to "downsize" from my DSLR. When taking the first pictures i was amazed by the camera and the sharpness of the lens and i got (for my standard) very decent pictures.

However, sth seems to have changed and for the life of it i can't figure out what. When taking pictures now, they still appear very sharp on the camera display, but once i transfer them to my iPad for processing, they are completelt blurry!

I have reset and initialized the camera, tried all kind of different settings from manual to completely automatic but it still is the same.

I shoot in RAW+JPEG mode and i transfer my pictures via the Play memories mobile app.

Again - i did not change any settings and when transferring the first pictures they were super crisp - now they are no longer.

Any idea what the issue could be? I am on the road now in Southeast Asia for 6 months and really want my quality shots back!

I attach some pics for you for comparison. The swedish pictures are the good quality ones, the green pics are the ones i am not satisfied with....

The images posted above are too small to tell anything from. If I could hazard a guess, the last picture is suffering from compression artifacts, which means that the full file is not being transferred to your iPad.

Actually, I had a similar problem when I started using PlayMemories. But I have a tablet with a SD card slot and a regular USB port, so I just use those, instead of messing about with wireless transfers.

There is a Lightning to SD card reader available from Apple for $30. It might be your best bet. In the mean time you could probably check your settings in PlayMemories to see if you can change the quality of transfers. I couldn't be bothered to work it out, as card transfers are faster and use less battery power.
