A7 ii Dead

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a Sony A7 ii and yesterday it won't turn on, nothing from battery (tried brand new) and also 5 of my friends, nothing from power cable. Tried the reset of removing the battery and holding the shutter button for 1 min still nothing.

Has anyone else had this issue? I am out of warranty so looking for a fixed or if anyone has had the same and a repair from Sony needed?

thanks in advance

Scott

Hi Tinplater

Thanks for the reply, I am getting zero from the camera though, not powering on from battery or showing charging light when connected to power cable, I am using a standard micro usb and usb plug so not sure if thats an issue?

Did you have the same thing with zero power but still managed to reflash using PC?

Thanks

Scott

I think you should try the Sony cable that came with the camera. There have been a lot of reports that using cheaper cables causes problems.

I use any cable that fits, from e-reader to harddrive wire, anything that is nearest when needed. they all work, no problem. When your cam is dead a sony wire won't solve your problem, guess you need a sony service centre.

Yes, it was totally dead, a brick, not breathing at all.

Nerdsuperb, have you disappeared ?

The advice that any seemingly suitable USB cable ought

to be as good as any other is just plain common sense.

BUT IT IS WRONG.

Multiple threads in the forum archives document this fact

which defies common sense but is ... mysteriously ... true.

TRY THE SONY CABLE [and use a Windows PC].
