Kestrels
OK, I am feeling silly .... my flash units do not work on my Sony A6500! Flash units, Minolta Program 5400xi and Dörr Combi P TTL Sony A6500 and Sony Flash adapter ADP-MAA I have been using the flash units, especially the Dörr unit for macro. As TTL does not work for macro I have always used reduced power, 1/4 or 1/16 on the Dörr. This works perfectly on my Sony Nex7. However, on the Sony A6500 the flash unit triggers when the flash unit is in TTL mode but when I reduce the power to say 1/4 it does not trigger. On the Minolta unit one can normally switch to manual and reduced power but when connected to the Sony A6500 it cannot be switched out of TTL mode. It seems the Sony A6500 is being simply too clever and is insisting on using TTL! I have tried M mode as well as P and A on the 6500 and it does not seem to make any difference. Is this a known problem? I cannot find any references to adjustments in the menu to solve this problem or have I just not found them? Can I use just the centre contact of the Sony Multi Interface Shoe and get a dumb adapter from the centre pin to the Minolta/Sony proprietary connector used on these flash units? Any other useful suggestions? Many thanks in advance for any help!
