Here are some of my favorite photos from my day at Antelope Island State Park near Salt Lake City, Utah.  For anyone traveling to Salt Lake City, I would definitely recommend stopping at this park.  If traveling in the spring/early summer, make sure that the no-see-ums are not currently hatching.  They will be killed off after the first 90+ degree day (according to park rangers).  Also, the island is a bird sanctuary, which was a first for me.  Here is the link to the Utah Trip album on Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHskWXm6Mo

This first one was taken just outside the visitor's center on the island.  The mountains in the background are part of the the Wasatch Range. I did not get the name of the sculpture/artist unfortunately.  I tried to get the mountains visible through the bison shaped cutouts and have the highlighted areas of the cutout look like the bison was moving.

There is a heard of bison on the island that has been there since the early 1900's.  They are not native to the island, but have been sustained well on the prairie grasses and natural fresh water springs.

This is taken behind the Fielding Garr Ranch House.  The Wasatch range is in the background behind some dried flats of the salt lake.

Photo taken from Buffalo Point overlooking White Rock Bay.  This photo came at the expense of significant discomfort.  The biting gnats (called no-see-ums) were hatching at this time and would swarm you the moment you came out of your car.  The park employees were wearing full length clothing, gloves, and mosquito net hats.  They have no respect for personal space and are more than willing to fly up nostrils, ear canals, and hid on the inside brim of your hat to attack you later.  My wife had the better judgement and stayed in the car.

Alright, just one more.  We had a rental 2017 Camaro for the 2nd half of our trip.  This was the first time that either of us had ever driven a sports car.  I had a blast with it.  If you look closely at the front bumper/grille, you can see the beginning of a fine black coating that was the gnats splattered on it. It only got worse from that point on.  There were park service trucks that had black front ends and were white from the front quarter panel back.  As you drove down the park road you could see fine black plumes that looked like gas being released from the ground, but were actually swarms of these gnats.
