MF Focus Assist for video [A7Sii]

Hi there,

 

quick question:

Can i also set the MF Assist for video mode in my A7Sii?

 

It works fine for photo but doesn't work in video mode. Any help?

You talking ENLARGEMENT or PEAKING for video? Enlargement won't operate in video mode and well it shouldn't. If a relatively static shoot you can nail focus in photo mode then switch to video but since framing is so critical to video having it crop in closer to focus on a moving scene would lead to disastrous framing results when you back out to normal.

 

Only thing I rely on for nailing focus on video is an external monitor with PEAKING activated. Peaking using the EVF or rear monitor isn't really all that precise. ikan VL35 is $250, small with mixed reviews on unit fragility. SmallHD is shipping their FOCUS ($500) unit in June that's 800 nits, 'does LUTS & other tricks but is 720 resolution while their 500 series ($800) is 1080. Kia. Iran also has a 5" 1080 (DH5e - $400) unit doing LUTS and light weight but some have quality complaints.
