Sony A6500 Reviews, anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

'Just registered some few days back as part of my research for camera replacement.  I'm shelving my bulky DSLR system for smaller rangefinder mode camera system.  I'm not new to photography.  I started with Canon during the film era.  I switched to Nikon in the DSLR era when Canon dropped the FD lens system (incompatible) from being used in their DSLRs - unlike Nikon DSLRs that can still use vintage Nikon lens without adapters.

I've been to review sites such as dpreview, tom hogan, ken rockwell, youtube, etc. in my search for rangefinder mode camera.  I had my sights on the Sony A6300 early last year.  And before 2016 year ended an upgrade or update, Sony A6500, was launched and after some months of reading reviews I have decided to get the A6500 inspite of what review sites say regarding noise in higher ISO  settings and slight error in color values affecting still photos - as compared to other models (Nikon and Canon models to include fujifilm XT-2).

To reiterate, I'm not new to photography and has a good grasp of videography.  They say Sony A6xxx series cameras are really good for videos.  I've seen sample stills of sony a6300 and a6500 that are basically similar on line as seen in my monitor but I'm not sure how it shows in print. As they say, the proof in the pudding is in the eating.  I might decide to get Sony A6500 before the first half of the year.

Hey,

You seem set on the a6500, it is a great camera, I hade the NEX-7 a few years back. My friend got the a6500, he loves it. Very light/compact, autofocus is a huge jump compared to my NEX-7. In terms of noise etc, don't stress. The sensors dynamic range is pretty good, and you can shoot under exposed with lower ISO and bring back the detail when editing.

One suggestion why not an a7? They are similar price bracket but you will get much better stills and better low light.

I now have an a7rII which is unreal. Hope this helps!

Goodluck!
