SAL 24-70z 2.8 Barrel Wiggle

I am close to buying a used SAL 24-70z f2.8 lens. The glass is clean, the AF is fast and accurate and the IQ seems good. The only reservation I have is that the inner barrel of the lens wiggles vertically (in landscape). My only other zoom lens is a Minolta 80-200 HS 2.8 and there is no play in the barrel of that lens. I would appreciate it if someone with the SAL 24-70z f2.8 could let me know whether it is normal for there to be a bit of play in the barrel of the lens.

It's normal for this lens and only get worse with time.  I can't say if it affects image quality because as soon as mine starts to get really loose I send it in to be repaired.  I've had the lens since 2009 and Ive sent it back twice.

Thank you for your input Jay! The play in this copy is fairly minor for now so I think I will pull the trigger. Can you give me a rough idea for the cost of repair?
