Lens and Adapter combos that work with A7R ii - my experience.

Hi,

Here is my own experience with things that works for my A7Rii with different adapters and lenses.

I've got A7Rii

With Sigma MC-11 adapter following lenses works just fine - including prompt AF and no issues in low light.

Sigma 50 ART - EF mount

Sigma 35 ART - EF mount

Sigma 24-35 ART - EF mount

Canon 16-35 F4L - EF mount

Canon 24-70 F2.8 L ii

Now the fun part, I've got cheap Viltron mount adapter that I got for my A6000

Viltrrox adapter E-Mount to EF-Mount

Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS L ii - works from 70-135 just fine, it hunts little at 200mm but apart from that it allows 70-200 F2.8 L to be used on A7R ii

But EF 70-200F2.8L IS wont work with Sigma Mc-11

Lens that doesnot work with anything

EF100F2.8L - it will not focus in AF, although manual focus works just fine if that is what you want to do.

I have had good experience with MC11 paired with:

• Sigma 70-200 f2.8 II macro hsm
• Sigma 105mm f2.8 DG marco hsm
• Canon fe 50mm f1.4

and not so god one with

• Canon fe 75-300 II

Novaflex adaptor with Leica M lenses

The Sigma MC-11 works fine with the A7RII and the Sigma 135mm 1.8.  Can hunt briefly in bad light, but stunning IQ.

The latest adapters on the market apparently allow full control of the attached lens (focus and aperture I guess) and the transmission of the necessary data to the camera.

 

I have read that Canon to Sony works OK but that Nikon to Sony is not all that good.  Given that I am both a Nikon and Sony shooter, I am obviously interested in the Nikon lens to Sony body connection (A7R2 in my case).

 

Is there anyone to confirm Nikon to Sony body performance, one way or the other?
