Touch less shutter release app released for NEX and A6000, A7 series

Recommended Posts

New free Sony app that lets you use the EVF sensor to take a touch less picture. In bulb mode you can cover the EVF to open shutter and cover again to close shutter. Or use it to take normal pics without touching the camera. Bulb mode touch less only works on A7S and A7M2. Might come in handy sometimes!

Exciting idea.

Just accessed the download page.

Guess I can live without this. I never ever

use direct online installation. If I can't put

a stand alone install.exe on my PC, from

which to install to my devices, then I have

nothing to do with an application. I'm very

olde skool and commensurately stubborn,

plus I can spare the few sheckels for the

Sony remote. If thaz the cost of being so

stubborn, I'm perficklee OK with paying it.

Redditsukz.

Not sure why they don't let you do it that way. I have had no issues downloading directly from camera though.

And yes you can use the wireless remote, wired remote, 2 second delay or now EVF sensor to shoot without getting any camera shake.

Well, cynical life form that I be, I have no doubts "why they

don't let you do it that way". Therefor I always opt out. But

I'm a grumpy cynical olde skool type, so opting out is very

much a lifelong habit for me !

There was a cool thing on an EOS board for checking your

shutter count, and it downloads a stand-alone installer app,

which I saved to my pc. The only version of this that I know

of for Sony never allows the app to reside on your pc. It's a

remote app that operates from an online server. Thaz OK,

cuz I bought all my Sonys brand new so I know how much

usage they've seen by using sequential image numbering

[Cue "helpful" person posting shortcomings of that method].

I could not get this to install using the PC-based installer. I installed the .msi but when I refreshed the browser it told me to download it again. After the third try I gave up and did it via WiFi in the camera.

I'll try that,  but I have little hope as I use Apple Yosemite which my A7r does not like at all.

Why doesn't the camera save your password when you tick the box, "sign in automatically"or "remember sign in" etc, you know the tick box i mean on the sign in window [might have called it wrong] ?

Its very easy to hook up to wifi and download, should come in handy, always love the free stuff too lol/

Great idea/

I also had problems downloading from the computer, so had to do it in camera. That's a pain when you have to try a few passwords to remember what it is. Anyway, it does nicely trigger the shutter but I couldn't use the back focus like I usually do. Maybe I have to go to the menu and change something, I don't know. It's easier to use the remote I have that will shoot single, continuous, or bulb. So this will be another Sony camera app I never use. At least it was free.

You should i just set it up and it works a treat.I have back focus set to the middle button on the ael switch to toggle when necessary, really handy with my zoom lens for recomposing.

This camera is ridiculously customisable its almost bewildering lol.

As for the new app, what a winner, great idea!! Who needs a remote now?

  • 2 weeks later...

Would be good if it could be used to trigger video recording. That would certainly solve the problem of the awkward trigger location (although I personally don't mind that too much as the start & stop issues are edited out anyway)

Ditto, Why no application for Video?? The only one now just allows triggering in Movie mode and doe not allow you to shoot video with your manual settings. No slog etc..

Bummer, Hope they fix that!!
