On Camera Video Light That Can Flash?

Recommended Posts

The HVL-60M flash has a video light, but its not enough light for really dark situations.  Its also expensive.

I have some Lume cube, but what I really dislike about them is you can only turn them up.  If you want to turn it down you have to cycle through all the way to brightest, then ramp up again from lowest setting.  This ruins the shoot.

I much prefer off camera lighting and flash, but I know this isn't possible in a run/gun type shoot.

I'm using a ZF-3000 LED light.  It has a metal foot, and I had to file it slightly to easily fit out shoe.  Its bi-color adjustable(3400K-6000K), and dimable(appx 1500 lumen).  On a F750 battery it'll run an hour and half at full intensity.

It was about $70.

Be aware that the shoe plate doesn't fit right on any of these and needs to be trimmed.

With that kind of light I don't usually camera mount it, I prefer to hold it as high as I can in my off hand.

A continuous light also can not give the kind of isolation that a HSS flash can on high shutter speeds.
