Hi all,

 

I'm new to the Sony A7RII, so new I don't have the camera yet. 

However....

Is there a general zoom for traveling that will not break the bank? low 20mm ish to aproaching the 100mm ish or beyond.
Less than $1500AUD would be my target

You have 2 options there (according to your question):

1- FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS

2- FE 24-70mm f/4 Sony Zeiss OSS

I use my Sony 18-105 E mount (not FE) and it is a excellent choice based upon price/value.  Smaller too.  I had the 24-240 mentioned above and kept it only two weeks.  It was not acceptably sharp for me, too heavy, and stiff (not to mention moderately expensive.)  A quality prime in the 19 to 55 mm range coupled with the Sony 70-200 F4 is a combination I use frequently when I can carry the larger zoom.
