Additional lens and card

I have just bought Sony A6000 with a 18-105 lens. (normally use Canon DSLR 600 but just too heavy for me) I did not want to but in at the top of the range and this is a completely new way for me. My DSLR was getting left at home on quick weekends away due to size and weight. Love taking cheeky pics of people etc. Going to India in a couple months so thought I would go for this camera. Lens looks much bigger than I expected and wonder if I have done the right thing. Any suggestions for which camera card would be best to use and another additional lens.?

Always use SansDisk cards. You might enjoy the 

collapsible 16-50 for travel. If you ignore the geek 

reviews that dump on it, you will get excellent pix. 

   

I myself would simply bring what you already have. 

It's a great rig. The lens isn't actually big ... it's just

not as compact as you had imagined it would be. 

   

If there are times you really need a pocketable rig, 

get the Sigma 30/2.8 pancake for days when you 

choose to leave the 18-105 behind. Learn to deal 

with the camera's panorama feature. It's fussy as 

to when and if it will actually work, but it's worth it 

to know how to use it in situations where it works.

The Sigma 30 is an excellent little lens. I used to carry only that and the Nex 7 when I was going around on the bike, shooting "matrix" (i.e. 2 rows x 2 columns, or 3x3, etc.) panoramas when I needed a larger field of view, and it worked like a charm.

For just a single prime that is sharp and affordable, I would highly recommend the Sigma 19mm 2.8.  However I also truly enjoy the 18-105 you already have and suggest you get a small Lowepro TLZ mini or similar case that can just pocket the camera with that lens attached.   Sling it over your shoulder and you will hardly know you have it with you.  And you will have space for batteries, charger, and the 19mm or similar small prime (the very best is the 35mm Zeiss FE 2.8  but much more expensive)
