Opinions of Kit FE 28-70 f3.5

Well I know it's cheap and slow.  I have one coming next week with the open-box sale A7ii I just bought.

Is it useable for semi-pro video or will I need sell it and buy something faster?

It's not a stellar lens, but overall it's fine. I have that lens too.

Don't judge the lens by its price or slow aperture. I have never done video, but I guess it should do all right.

in the wide range it is very good  maybe till 40mm

 

but even with oss pictures at longer focal length are never crisp

 

so i do not use this lens anymore....... but for the price it is o.k.

 

it does fall short of the amazing sensor capacity from the A7 

 

better to take a RX100, i think IQ is better

Le mien utilisé sur A7RII est excellent au centre et très bon sur les bords, à toutes les focales, à partir de F5.6

I used this lens on my A7R for about a year, waiting for other Sony E-mount lenses to come out.   Honestly, for a relatively cheap "kit" lens, it's not that bad.   My wife and I roamed cities with this lens and a little 35 f2.8 and I never felt deprived.   Good luck.  I got into Sony E-mounts for size and weight vs. my Nikons, and have no regrets.
